Title: Tom Berenger 1996 Avenging Angel
Post by: Tuolumne Lawman on August 29, 2019, 11:53:32 PM
I recently re-watched Berenger in Avenging Angel.  It had been years since I had watched it, and I really enjoyed it.  While a little loose on History, it is one of my top dozen Western films.  I like Berenger, I like his 1860 Henry (which the follower showed was actually loaded), I like his 8" barreled S&W No.3 American, and I loved his Avenging Angel 3" 1860.  Being a US History teacher for 7 years, much of the History (including the Danites and assorted scrapes with the government)  was within reasonable boundaries of literary license.

It is one of my faves as well.  Berenger is believable in a western, not a lot of actors fit that bill

Yep, I agree.  He was good in "Johnson County War" and "Rough Riders," also.

In my career I had the pleasure to work on several Berenger films.

including AA , made the Avenging Angel 1860 for James Coburn ...
Rough Riders
Into the West
and "One Man's Hero"

I did not get to do  Last of the Dogmen  or Hatfields & McCoys ( May be his best piece of work )

Platoon

All good films and a very underrated actor.  But I still like "Rustler's Rhapsody" best of all.

When I first started shooting CAS, one of the fellows in the club had the alias "Rex TSC."  I asked him once what the TSC stood for, and he responded "Rex The Singing Cowboy" which is when I learned about the movie.

HI
I liked most of Tom Berringer's films, but Rustler's Rhapsody is just hilarious with the whole "I'd like a large glass of Warm Milk" bar goes silent.

Yessir, there were a lot of good lines in that one.

Oh, and don't forget gin, in a dirty glass ... with a human hair in it.   :D

Again, I loved Rustler's Rhapsody, but I drink my gin cold, with tonic and lime, or orange juice, bitters, and some tonic.

He's pretty versatile.
I think my favorites of his movies would be Major League, Platoon, and Gettysburg/Gods & Generals.

I understand that during his off time he is or was a CW Reenactor

I have been a fan for long time from Eddie and the cruisers to Hatfields and McCoys.  He always does a good job.   He did the western detective series.  I am going to have to look and see if it is streaming anywhere.

FYI,
I believe you can watch Peacemakers, Berenger's TV western detective show on NBC online, or with the NBC App.

Just finished watching "Gone Are The Days" with Berenger and Lance Henricksen.

Extremely well acted, especially by Henricksen, an actor who seemingly can take on any role and sell it. Props to the Prop Master, too, - . . . Henricksen carried a Schofield.

And add Danny Trejo as well, so this western had a great cast.

I happened to notice that this is available free on YouTube. I use a Chromecast device and watch YouTube videos on TV. I haven't seen this one yet.  Hmmm, it's kind of rainy here today...

The Avenging Angel was a really good movie.  I'd never even heard of it before.
