Title: 1881 mid range rear sight
Post by: Whiskey Double on July 02, 2023, 12:06:11 PM: I have a 1881 ( made 1883) in 45 Gov't looking for a ladder barrel sight or tang sight, preferably vernier. Can anyone help?

Post by: kwilliams1876 on July 03, 2023, 01:37:09 PM: The Shaver sight lists the base as for Marlin/Ballard. My previous post shows the same base mounted on my '81 and the bolt clearance issue. I doubt the base could be flipped 180 and still have the stem upright and in the detent. If one wanted to drill a new hole and thread it and counter bore for a longer tang screw it may work, maybe not wise on a nice original rifle.

Let me know how that turns out. I have two 1881 marlins I'd like to put peeps on.

Post by: Whiskey Double on July 24, 2023, 07:03:48 AM: I haven't heard back from Lee Shaver yet. Still no peep, but I did find a Smith Enterprise ladder sight for the 95 that fits the dovetail on barrel.
