serial # look up for 1860 Spencer carbine

A friend has inherited a very nice 1860 carbine and accessories. I was hoping you could do a look up and see if it jives with the handwritten notes included with the kit. I have read and understand 2Flints disclaimer. Thank You  Jw  Serial no. 57842

[Arizona Trooper]

The only unit reporting serial numbers in the late 57XXX range is the Co. G 18th NY in June of 1865. Probably all of the 18th had numbers in that range. 57816 and 57865 are the closest to yours that turn up in Co. G.
