Spencer Rifle # 444_

Saw this at a show today, and says it is a Wilder's Spencer.  Number is 444_ and last digit I believe was either a 3 or a 5.  Any ideas?  Thank you.

Per Springfield research, 1860 rifle SN 4445 was with the 9th Michigan Cavalry on January 1, 1865.  I presume that was an inventory date for weapons on hand as opposed to the initial date of issue.

Did the person displaying the Spencer explain how he determined it was a Wilder's Brigade rifle?
