My Spencer in 56-50 has a front sight post that seems to sit too low. At 25-30 yards my point of impact is 6 inches higher than my point of aim. Has anyone else had this issue? How did you resolve it?

My rear sight has a little notch at the bottom. If I don't bury my front sight down into that notch, my bullets hit high as well. I don't know if that is what is happening to you, but when I've let other shooters try my gun, they often don't notice that tiny notch and tend to shoot high.

:)  Ah well now.  Think about it for just a moment.  The replica rifles of which you speak are mostly accurate replicas of Nineteenth century stuff.  Sights were factory regulated to be "close" at about a hundred yards with the then available ammunition.  They are ALL going to be like that when "right out of the box."
