Retirement is, looking for something to do.
There are the honey doo's and assorted errands, but even they get completed eventually.
The other day, I found a box marked
Misc. in the loft of the Garage.
This box was packed in 1988, when I moved from Miami. I don't recall having open it in these ensuing years

. The Tape was still sealed.
Anyway, I figure it was time capsule of sorts. INSIDE were some treasures, at least to me....
Flash back... 1966 I was in High School, I had two elective classes, Wood Shop and I took Metal Shop.
The first year (10 grade) in Woods, there assigned projects you made and submitted for your grade.
Same deal in Metal Shop, Like a soldered sheet metal candle holder and a rather industrial looking sheet metal dustpan. I turned these out for my A grade. You had choice of projects for lathe work, and I chose to turn a brass cannon (it was in the time capsule box) in the attached photo.
I recall it had a wooden carriage, but that seems to have been lost. The wire is recent so to hang on a nail,
I believe a new Naval Mount will be fabricated.
Another class project was welding, then it was ARC and or Acetylene welding (we did not have MIG)
ARC welling was a simple 3 " bead and a Butt joint weld for your grade.
Passing these, I opted to fabricate an artsy stylized Model T. This also was in the time capsule box.
It was made from misc. nuts & #8 duplex nails, scraps of steel tubing, and extruded metal and some steel rings, and rattle canned flat black in 1966.
The model T is something like 57 years old and packed away probably 36 or so years ago.
I decided it needed to have a reemergence. (as will the Brass Cannon)
It was dusty, rusty and black, it cleaned up, and rattle canned OD green, I decided to upholster the two seats in scrap burlap and the Gattling gun hitch was attached (the gun & carriage is a cast metal model, the scale seemed to work)
So,
a fantasy Model T Gattling Gun hauler, I like it and it was something to do

Hope you'll do too.
To: Joe Weise & Jim Crisswell & Ted Lasinski, RIP gents (my SH instructors)
yep! it shoots (BP blanks of course)
