I'm headed to the frendly LGS to pick up a project in the morning, for one of their customers.
I'll post more about it tomorrow with photos.
You all might recall, some weeks ago I was asked by my friendly LGS, to look and appraise 3 guns the previous owner/ consigner had rattled caned painted black.
There was the Ruby, a WALTHER P38 with post war AC44 Holster and 2 mags, and a Model 1 1/2 S&W top break in 32 cal.
All three had been painted in semi-Gloss black,
I estimated the P38 would bring about $500 , the Ruby maybe ? ( well I took a chance for $100 )
and it turned out a small gem in the rough....about 70% original finish and functions fine..
Once I removed the offending Krylon paint job...
The poor Smith I fear is a train wreak .
I was asked by the new owner of the P38 ( yes it sold for $500) if I would restore the P38
I agreed to do so for $35 (he gave me $50 for about 45 minutes work

)
So here is P38, sadly the original finish had been stripped before the rattle can job

It is a good shooter grade, matching #s and waffen marks... but in its less the 10% original finish
sill worth the $500 I guess...
