Sure.  It's actually simple ... BECAUSE a "short Rifle" is defined by a 20 inch barrel.  BECAUSE a short rifle has a 20 inch barrel, a Carbine had to have a "shorter barrel" than a rifle.  BECAUSE a "Border Rifle" has a 20 inch barrel, a Carbine had to have a shorter barrel than a rifle.  BECAUSE Uberti rifles were never intended to mime REAL Winchesters.  Just sort of look alike.  BECAUSE Uberti rifles are Replicants, not true reproductions.  Or simplify it.  "JUST BECAUSE"

And, iffy you look real close, yule find ALL the manufacturers copied Uberti dimensions and made Their carbines with 19 inch barrels.  Mostly.  Uberti '73 Carbines, and others '92 Carbines have 19 inch barrels.   ;D

hmmmm interesting
I got the tape out - had me a theory I did - didnt work out so back to practical .... just because .....would seem to be the correct answer . My 22rf Uberti 66 is 19 inches (cool lil snake gun that with ratshot carteridges)

Theory wuz ---maybe they -Uberti- tried to match the OAL of a 92 carbine ? but nope the 20inch 92 is still an inch n a bit shorter than the 19 inch 66 -- so we can can that theory

I have a 32/20 model 92 rifle - for some reason it measures aboot 3/8th inch OVER the expected 24inch brl length ?

Had an origynal 92 carbine once and I really believe it had 20 inch brl not 19
