1878 Hand
« on: July 08, 2013, 08:31:57 AM »
Hi,
I am trying to make a hand for an Mod 1878 Colt circa 1895.  I don't have the original to go by.  The hand rests on top of a pin rather than encircling it as shown by the only drawings I have seen.  The pin pushes the hand up but will not retract it since it just sets on top of the pin.  Does the hand spring retract the hand?
Regards

Get a copy of Dave Chicoine's 'Gunsmithing the Guns of the Old West' - it'll help immeasurably.
