A trooper has asked the following to which I don't have an answer:
When are the policy changes for the marksmanship and other awards going to be posted? What are the changes to the marksmanship award criteria? Can I still earn a marksmanship badge independently?
I have forwarded this question to those who I figured could best answer this trooper's question be neither he nor I have received a response since 5/26/09. Let's get an answer to this fellow who has been patiently waiting.

The short answer is: Pending.
At the moment, my laptop, where I keep my GAF files, has been having some technical problems for several weeks. Hope to have those resolved by the end of the week. In the meantime, I have to use the computer at work and have been able to do little more than log on and scan The Barracks. Due to new firewalls they've installed half my e-mails don't make it though or get sent multiple times - so I'm assuming that my response to this question didn't make it though. Very annoying. With a bit of luck, my laptop will be operational by the weekend and I should be able to get back to finishing up the awards policy.

Thanks. Sgt. Drydock has also responded to him.

I'm the person causing all of the trouble :o. All I wanted to do was warm up the Krag and get a shiney badge for my uniform ;D, sorry for all the confusion fellas. Thanks to Col. Bull and Sgt. Drydock.

Laptop was repaired last night (several days earlier than anticipated) so I'm almost back in business again. I not only needed access to my GAF files but also other files, so its nice to have access again.

I felt more like a prisoner! I'm sometimes amazed how dependent we have become upon technology and when that technology fails, its frustrating.
For once I've a relatively free weekend coming up - no travel, no family activities, and its been raining so much (and the forecast is more of the same) that I suspect the local shoots will be cancelled for safety reasons - so I won't be tempted to go shoot instead of catching up on my GAF backlog.

The current marksmanship regs are being revised because at 50 yds it it too difficult to use the battle sights on military rifles, the targets don't print well on a 8.5X11 sheet of paper, and because we included some firearms that don't belong on the approved list. I have the research done, I just haven't gotten everything finalized.
Until everything is finalized continue to use the old regs.
My new job has me fighting with computers all day and by the time I get home I haven't been much in the mood to spend more time on one. As I've been getting a little more comfortable with the new job and getting more with the routine I've been trying to get some GAF things caught up... but I do seem to have a pretty good backlog. :-\

I hear you, loud and clear. There are days when I don't even want to see a computer after I get home.
