Title: My "Fake 1869" cadet rifle.

1st understand, paid $900 for it, (didn't expect it to be true, but $900 for a Trapdoor 50/70 is OK). 2nd, after a little research today, sn 48xxx is well outside of the of the 1-3422 sn range of the cadet. My rifle may be on an actual be Cadet stock chopped at front end. The cadet was buttstock is thinner than my 1863, at 1,25 vs 1.56. Guessing the 1861/1863 stocks were replaced, the 1861/1863 were 3 band, the 1868/1869 were 2 band.
So my question, anyone have an 1868, what is the thickness of your but plate?

Dusty, are you talking how thick or how wide the butt plate is?  If it's the width, are you talking at the widest point?  I've got a '68 Rifle, and what I believe is an 1863 stock.  Both are essentially the same width at their widest point, which is about 1.685".  The 1863 is thicker than the 1868 at the edge.  The '63 is about .010" thick, and the '68 is about .058" thick.  The difference is quite noticeable when you look at them side by side.  Hope that helps.
