Hello, I'm new to the Uberti 1860 Henry, iron framed .44-40. Have not fired it in competition, needing to load the magazine full. I have tried various ways of moving the magazine follower up, then turning the magazine top over with out pinching my thumb. I have let the magazine follower slam all the way down on an empty magazine. Obviously, Oops! It sheared off. I'm researching how to fix this. Do I have to take the action apart from the beginning or can I go directly to the problem? Love this rifle. Thank you.

There is a screw at the muzzle aside of the front sight... remove this and the front will slide off that is full access to the spring and follower
Simply replace the sheared follower and Bobs your Uncle

PLUS ONE to Major 2 :D
I would add, when you have the barrel end turned, the Mag Spring and the Follower will attempt to escape custody. At high velocity I might add.

And ... your gonna have some SERIOUS FUN getting the spring and follower back in ;D

You broke the magazine follower? That's a first for me. And after nearly 30 years of using and abusing a Henry both on and off the reenacting field I thought I'd seen all it's weak points. ;D

"If something can go wrong, it will." Its not just a statement, its a LAW

Did you happen to buy the Henry new? If it is within the warranty period, the importer may just send you a new follower.

I would suggest you contact VIT Gunparts, Taylors and Cimarron (in that order) for a new follower.
