I think this is great, it saves me a trip half way across the country to be beat by all of you.  I'm in!

Sad news indeed.

He was a character, to be sure. Made an impression on my daughter the one time she camped with me at the Nationals at Ackley. That was the year of the inaugural Originals shooting as a category.

He often posted here in CAS City, and was a staunch supporter of NCOWS.

Vaya con Dios, Amigo.

The Barracks / Re: 45-70 500 gr bullet sized .459 with round nose

The 12 grain increase in bullet-weight will not blow up Your TrapDoor with blackpowder loads.
The slightly longer bullet might mean that You will have to reduce the powder in order to seat the bullet deeper and have the cartridge chamber freely.  It all depends on the dimensions of the bullet-nose and the dimensions of Your rifles throat.
The extra lube groove should prove an added bonus.
With the new (and slightly heavier) bullet You should expect a slight change in point-of-impact vs. Your earlier sight settings...
There is also the question of what lead alloy / lead hardness Chey Cast uses vs. Buffalo Arms...
Please keep the forum updated on Your experiences...

If you guys will message me your address, I've got a GAF postal match ready to go.  I can send you targets, rules, etc. to copy.  I'd love to get this started again!

There is posse brewing up yonder, and a major straight shooter just signed in  :(
I like to believe they have a golden range, where errant shots don't count.
"Ol Gabe" will be there along with the others we miss, another of the GOOD guy's has gone home.

God speed Gary it was a pleasure......

Having spent a day in post-Thanksgiving to pre-Christmas adjustment, started shifting from outside decor to inside decor.  Will now do indoor lights and the second year for our train set we were given by a good friend before his departure to Tennessee.  He wants pics of the result of my first setup.

 TODAY
FRI 12/03
Currently 59°F 1% Precip. / 0.00 in
Sunny. High 59F. Winds light and variable.

Starting to horde up provisions for the wife’s 3-week trip to the land of the cold (Sorry Slim).  I prefer to avoid grocery stores as much as the plague or COVID.

I have learned that our long time friend and member, Gary Strand "Ol Gabe"
has passed away. When I first joined NCOWS he was always very friendly
and helpful. He was a talented painter and I have a couple of his paintings.
You will be missed my friend. Thoughts and prayers to his family.
