My private range
« on: June 07, 2015, 12:39:49 PM »
I know this isn't about black powder, strictly speaking, but B-P is shot in the video.

A member of of the Darksiders' Den asked me to post an update of what's going on at my new private range, where my videos are now recorded.

Here's the update:

Having your own place to shoot that you control is great, I'd hate to depend on a public/club range.

Hey Mike,
That looks great.  When I do not mind the drive, the in-laws have a wide expanse for me to make smoke and attempt to hit targets.  Nice, quiet and private, well mostly private.  Problem is the labs see me with a gun, get excited and follow me about.  I swear they sat there waiting to retrieve a bird and would watch me shoot, look out, then at each other.  I think they think I am the worst hunter on the planet.  They finally just laid under a tree in the shade and I am pretty sure they were laughing.

Second Saturday each month usually the following day and 5th Saturday when there is one. 9 Miles from West Point on highway 71.
Just a few miles from LaGrange and every one knows where that is.
ZZ Top made it famous.
New visiting shooters always welcome
Interesting drive through a working ranch.

Lookin Good Mike. Nutten' better than a personal or private range. I've shot only a few times at a public range. Have always shot on family owned property, private property where 24/7 352 days a year permission was given, and club owned or at ranges when I was a LEO that was officer only. Don't think I could tolerate long at a public range where a mix of shooters from all walks of the shooting public attended. Just having to put up with those that seem to always give the shooting/gun owners bad PR I guess.

Dave,
Thanks for the video of your range. Great ideas on targets and how you have solved set up problems.
I hope you will post further updates/changes to the range.
Also, the entrance gate is great. Did you buy it already made or was it fabricated just for you?

In the middle of this snowstorm and I just finished shoveling--for the 4th time. Watching the video again helps me out a bit until Spring arrives!
