Off today 'cuz I verked Saturday and 14 hours on Monday.

Changing the radiator in the Suburban, today, 'cuz of a leak in the plastic.

Had a Jeep Wrangler once (02 model) with plastic tank radiator, could not be fixed, aside from some kinda RTV gook ! 
A new replacement Jeep Product ( same same ) was quoted @ $600 plus install 
I called Radiator Barn they sent an all brass tanks w/copper core, shipped next day for under $200.

Thanks for the coffee gonna go brew a cup now.

Recently my car overheated. I had a cracked water outlet housing. Cost me 385 bucks. Could have been worse. Summer in Florida is a bad place to have a car overheat.

OH yeah !, I had 89 Ford 350 Dulley with a 460 CDI motor, I bought to haul my gooseneck horse trailer to reenactments all over.
I got into a predicament, went down a road where I could not turn the rig turned around.
I had the back it a mile or so, it was at night, so dark I needed the dash lights and headlight off so I could see the backing lights.
Anyway, I could not see the temp gauge headed to hell.
Now the issue was the duel electric cooling fans did not kick in so I OVER heated !!!!

BAD JUJU.... melted the Sparkplug boots and other rubber parts, suspected maybe a head gasket too... the Truck had 1800 miles on it.
Took it to the dealer for I assumed would be a pricy outcome .... BUT the Ford Factory Rep was there, and his assessment was, warranty issue. Seems there some sort of recall on the fans....
Ford would foot the bill, but it would take some weeks to complete.
The dealership offered a trade up and momma raised no fool.
Total out of pocket,was + $100. because I opted for the extended cab (I had wanted in the first place)

I have been doing business with the same dealership ever since, find a good one and I'll keep them.

This is the list of Codes stored in computer of car...
C1027,C1035,C1043,V1048,C1085,C2100,C2202,C2205,U100,U110B,U140C,U140E,U0164,U1418,P0501,P0700 and 121A. Most of these are ABS/speed sensor codes, but they will set codes for the transmission as well.so I'm going to try the simple fixes first and go from there.

Looks like we’ll break the 100-degree mark tomorrow and Sunday here in Reno.
It’s been in the upper 90’s for several days, the past few weeks now, but the overnight lows are in the low 60’s.  That’s what the high altitude, clear skies and low humidity's do.  Suck up the heat in the day, then throw it out into space at night.

Going into the third year of fussing with my teeth.  Hopefully done by the end of the year.

Went to the Doc about recurring lower back problems that gave been keeping me from doing much walking or standing.  Got muscle relaxers, pain killers and x-rays.  Drugs have seemed to kick in, so now I’m waiting for the Doc to call about the x-rays.   
Plus, this morning my cell phone died.  Well, netter it than me!

The wife has been back in Milwaukee for the last two weeks (4 more to go).  The cats and I have been behaving.  No pound or jail visits yet. 
Blacked Cajun-Spiced catfish and grilled corn on the cob for supper tomorrow.

Just me here.  I wouldn't trust the cats with the catfish.  It would never get spiced or make it to the cast iron skillet on the grill.
The corn has soaked all day and will go on the grill, in the husk, first and get steamed and a little browned, then husked just before eating.

Maybe a little Pinot Grigio and grilled buttered and breaded asparagus to go along with it.

Good morning all. Well, we were traveling from Arkansas to Atlantic City, NJ to visit family. Our Santa Fe with 60,000 miles on it decided to throw a rod yesterday in Virginia. It's under warranty, but got to head to the dealer in a few minutes to work out [hopefully] a loaner to finish the trip today. Anyway, we are doing okay, just annoyed.

Hyundai's 10-Year / 100,000-Mile warranty is an industry leader; you should pat yourself on the back for choosing the brand.
I also understand they offer 5-Year, Unlimited Miles 24-Hour Roadside Assistance.
That is a comfort when travailing far from home.

We had a rather surprise major thunderstorm yesterday evening. I knew thundershowers were coming but the guessers failed to warn of any severities.
 In fact, it had exploded in our area before they finally reported warnings.
We got over a 1 1/2 inches in the hour! winds 55 MPH with gusts to 65 MPH.

For about 30 or so minutes it was Aunty Em, Auny Em time ...
 but only shredded leaves & twigs.   We've been rather depleted in rain lately with it skirting around us, so any standing water quickly soaked in.

But a happy camper this morning got my coffee and a slice of left over micro-zapped pizza.

Morning all.

Major, we got 2 storms about like yours earlier this week.  We also can use all the rain the Lord will send, but the county fair and rodeo this week wouldn't mind if it had come a bit earlier.  We've been parched enough lately that things still dried up pretty well though.

This morning is about 66 degrees, 81% humidity, 5 mph west wind.  Forecast is "Areas of smoke after 11am.  Mostly sunny, with a high near 85.  Northwest wind 6 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph."

I hope the smoke doesn't get too bad.  My older daughter (almost 3 y.o.) was coughing a lot earlier this summer, and we think it may have been the smoke combined with a couple colds.

Used to worry about not being able to work on this new stuff. Now I can't even work on the old stuff. Roadside and a good mechanic we trust helps.   Things going so so, will have a better report next week after seeing the cancer Dr.

Back when I was younger and full of vinegar, I wrench on my own stuff.
Built an Austin Healy for SCCA sport car club racing, later built a Ford Mustang for same.
That was 50 and a bit more years ago.   The last real project was that Jeep Radiator swap in 04.

All I do now is swap out windshield wipers, occasional air cleaner, and pump my own gas, that's it.
  Dealer changes my oil; rotates tires & a 21 point check.
 I wait in air conditioning or go across the street and have breakfast.

I gave up the last of my auto tinkerin' when i sold my last MGB about 6 years ago.  I've gone thru 5 of the pre '74 model over 35 consecutive  years.  Pulled engines several times (required to replace clutch parts).  Once was to rebuild an engine.  (I remember having the engine out and about to roll it over on it's side,when I realized I hadn't drained the oil.  So it was up righted and started to drain it, when a car came by and stared at what we were doing.  Looked back at him and said with a straight face "What?  Don't you know this is how you charge the oil in the foreign cars?"  We had a good laugh at the look on his face as he drove off.
