Your Next USFA?
« on: April 05, 2005, 11:43:09 PM »
So...  What will your next USFA purchase be?  I just ordered a 4" Sheriff's model with nickel finish.  Once it arrives I plan to order the Omni-Potent Snubnose model, also with the 4" barrel.  That USFA catalog is seductive!

I've pondering a 7 1/2" .45 SAA. I wish I had got the 7 1/2" when I bought the last 4 3/4". I'd also like to have it in Nickel, but don't think I can afford that right now. I'd like to find someone that has a blued 7 1/2 that wants to trade for a blued 4 3/4.

My next USFA is going to be my first USFA,  I've been looking around for quite some time, These USFA's seem to be a notch or two up from the Colt's.  I'm looking at a 4 3/4 case hardened in 45 Colt.

Howdy Capt.
I'm think'n  7 1/2" barrel, black powderr frame and wood grips. Kind a like a Henry Nettleton with out the U S Military markings, but in 38/40. Nickel? something to think about but sounds expensive. This will not be a CAS gun but one to take out occasionally to enjoy shooting with out subjecting the pistol to the wear and tear of cowboy shooting.

Chipola & Rawhide,
I have one of the 7 & 1/2 inchers in nickel with wood grips, cross pin frame and square notch rear sight.  Consistantly gives me 2 & 1/2" groups, point of aim, at 25 yards.  Needless to say, I am quite happy with it.

Have 3 pair of Rodeo's now have a pair of SAA 5 1/2.
I thought they only came in pairs.
If they don't, what do you put in your other hand when your only shootn one?
You would limp from the wieght only on one side.

I am thinking about purchasing the Pre-War, http://www.usfirearms.com/cat/prewar.asp, Revolver. It may take awhile to save up the money as they are not cheap.  :o

Last year I purchased a Blued/CC  7 1/2 " SAA in .45 Colt. It shoots great and I will be using it more at my local CAS meets. About a month ago, I ordered a PB frame 4 3/4 " Blue/CC also in .45. I'm looking foreward to shooting that beauty also. I heard a lot about the USPF pistols and they really are what everyone says they are: well made, well finished and accurate.

That's a hard one to answer.  Considering most of my cowbow guns are Uberti's.  I don't know if I can justify spending $1K or more for a sixgun.  But if I were, It would have to the 5.5inch Omni-potent.  That is if they put them back in production anytime soon.  The last time I called up they told me they were on the back burner until they got the backorders for the Lightning caught up.  Maybe around Christmas time.

 8)  Pair of .38 Rodeo's w/ 5 1/2 barrels and long cylinder flutes.  After that a pair of Rodeos in .45 w/7 1/2 barrels.

I really want a pair of SAA's in 44-40 w/7-1/2" bbls, BP frame and Armory "B" engraving.

Of course the frontier six shooter would be nice with those scrimshaw pearl handles, would make you feel like you were one of those Saturday morning cowboy heroes.

I have 2 USFA's  45 Colt 4-3/4".  Last weekend I used one to take out the 25 yd pistol steel silloute 5 times out of 5 shots.  Gun shoots far better than I as I was having an exceptional day.  Wish those days would occur more frequently.  I need another 45 auto.  This time a USFA.  One cannot have too many 45 autos.

I like the Omni-Potent in .45 with a 2" pipe.

What a carry gun.  The muzzle flash with BP would be almost as devastating as the bullet.

It'd be a handful! And I'd bet that thing would have a heck of a bark, also. :o

Though they seem "a bit" overpriced, I too am looking forward to the introduction of the .45 autos.  Would like one with the US Navy markings.

PS:  I'm still waiting for that Sheriff's Model that I ordered back in April when I started this thread.

Rodeos with a 7 1/2 inch barrel in either .45 LC or .44-40 depending on what is avaliable at the time I get about $1200 saved up.  Bought a .45 Cowboy instead.  Now I am thinking of a dual cylinder .44Special/.44-40 with 7 1/2 inch barrel.
