I've decided to be my grumpy self one more year and Pope Greg was wrong.  The New Year began about 10 days ago on the Winter Solstice.  I'm also going to be a Druid.

I have a pot of Fresh Green beans with a ham bone in French onion soup simmering.
Not traditional I guess, Southern superstition holds that people who eat black-eyed peas on New Year's Day will be blessed with a year's worth of good luck.
The myths seem to all stem around the WBTS or be traced back to Africa.
My Folks followed the tradition so by extension I did as well, when I was a kid.
 I just happen to prefer green beans.... I just sampled a little taste,  GOOOOOD ....

I've heard the Covenant aka the Holy Land and about any cultural group there and when ever they celebrate the New Year.  The Shrepatic  sp Jews in Iberia didn't like the surprises by the Spanish Inquisition and some moved late in the 17th century to Georgia aka the one here, not the one near Russia.  They were friendly with the natives and it came through that.

Of course Uncle Billy knew what they were because they were common in the North and he could and likely did feed them to men and horses.

There is a similar story about oatmeal pie that can't be dated to before Quaker Oats that was cause Uncle Billy stole all the pecans.  That story has so many holes in it that it ain't funny.

The New Year started off great for us here. Spent the week between Christmas and New Year's with family, 5 nieces and nephews and their kids, so about 30 folks altogether. May God bless you all!

Good morning folks. 62 and foggy here today, supposed to hit 67. Going for my annual eye checkup today, insurance says I can have new glasses this year. The Missus was gonna go with me but she is not feeling well today, so I will have to take pictures of them and send them to her! Y'all behave [Roger, this means you! No chasin' those pretty young things at the Museum!]

If you call to make a Dr appointment and you get the scheduling person laughing thats good, if you have to set up two and get both then your mission for the day is accomplished.   


Tired something, among things they give you when they give you boxes of food for the old and poor is instant mashed tater, and powdered milk.   And no one really wants them. 

Add them to bread, saves on flour, need a slightly lower heat baking.  Very crusty and look no big cracks and when I cut it I doubt there is holes that let the good stuff leak out.

No modern art artisan bread for me, don't understand, like holes in jeans some want that.

The vampire visit was last month, and so everything seems to be firing on all 8 Cylinders.
They want me to get my eye exam for 2023, and I'll do a Covid booster on Thursday

Yesterday was Mine and Mrs. TK’s 1 year anniversary. I had a nice fancy dinner planned out that I was going to surprise her with after work, but that never happened. Instead her anniversary gift was an emergency tooth filling replacement. It’s thought that counts, I guess.

Its like my wife told me "its OK to look at the new model cars, just don't try to test drive any !!! " 

I told her, "I haven't been able to ride a clutch in YEARS !"
