Title: Last month for coffee this year
Post by: Delmonico on December 01, 2019, 06:49:39 AM
I'm up having at it for what it's worth.   Little Brown Dog is not happy about the new schedule. ::)  Told him if he's going to be a bird dog he's going to have to get up early.  Got up yesterday morning with a herd of pigs at the foot of the bed.

Coffee and tea are ready.

'Bout 3" of sn*w overnight.

'Tis 29 and snow. "Snow this morning will give way to lingering snow showers this afternoon. High near 30F. Winds NNE at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of snow 90%. About one inch of snow expected."

Snow missed up except for a few flakes last night, good thing with 25-35 mph winds with gusts to over 50 it could have got ugly, not that I care, except Rita's Aunt is having a 102nd birthday party today. ;)

On Sunday December 8 at 1 pm I am having a birthday/retirement party at The Joyo Theater at 6102 Havelock Ave, Lincoln, Nebraska.

We are having a screening of that classic from 1974 Blazing Saddles.

Presents are not needed, just show up if you can, dress the part if you wish, bring whoopee cushions or your armpit for sound effects when needed, bring a whole shitload of dimes. Don't just be a pawn in the game of life.

We are planning on having fun and we don't need no stinking badges.

Do show up if you can or the n,,,,,,,,,,, will get it, better not, Facebook bots won't like it.

Aw yes, the days of our youth when we could watch a funny movie without being offended.

The evil white stuff is falling from the sky,Temp is 26 right now weather guessers are saying 8to 12 inches of the stuff. I'm ready for it, Yesterday I put all the outside furniture, rugs, hoses, lawn tools in the back yard shelter, Got the S**wblower out and fired it up, only took 1 pull, had to put air in one tire, now it's ready for the pending apocalypse. Y'all stay dry and warm.

Today reached 31, and that's about as exciting as it's been. It snowed pretty good yesterday, we have about 8" of the stuff.

Back to class tomorrow.

Having a killer samish called the Gobbler ....
Roasted turkey , dressing , white merican cheese ,  mayo , sweet peppers and gravy ...it also has mashed potatoes and cranberry paste which I deleted on specal order,
Sloppy wet and GOOOOOOD ...It is from WAWAs ...

My plan was to hit Cracker Barrel for the Turkey lunch special , but when I got in there , they were out of their cornbread dressing , and green bean casserole ( sorry Del )
Not to mention un-sweet tea .... cant handle sweet tea , to insipidly sweet for my tastes.

Three strikes ...I was out of there   ::)

Morning all.

Currently 34, WC 25, with scattered clouds up high. Supposed to get up towards 45 today, according to the good folks at NOAA.

I just got out of an accounting test, number three for the semester. The final will be on Monday morning. And not soon enough it is.

For lunch, I think I'll indulge in a bowl of Banana Nut Crunch cereal and some Black Rifle Coffee.

Got a damned suicide vest but not really it's a wearable defibrillator, supposed to tell people to get the hell out of the way and then zaps me when I need it. ::)

Well that was exciting,  at 5 am, was woke with a bong, bong, bong, bong alarm, flashing light, Rita getting the heck away from me and telling Riley to run, I realize I am not having massive chest pains and am breathing as good as I have been and am trying to find the double buttons before I get tazed.

Push them, look at the screen and it didn't think I was dieing, it didn't know because one of the electrodes was not making contact. Finally had to take the whole damned electric girdle contraption off and put it back on as well as pull the battery and reboot the dang thing.

I remember now the noise it makes for a problem with me is louder, more shrill and vibrates on the belt also as well as telling Rita to get her and the dog out of the way.

If I wanted zapped at 5 am I'd go pee on an electric fence.

OK, went out to see Rita, she had a tray ordered for me so we could have supper and I was to get cake.

Tray came, no cake, had a sticker that said no cake because she is on a low carb diet.

Well I'm sorry, that was so dang funny with everything else going on including my real cake and party being canceled, I about lost it laughing.

Before I left, barely they came up with my cake and said they were sorry about the mix up and I told the gal the whole story and had her laughing.

Howdy Y'all, Del, be nice to the nurses, they keep the Drs. from killing you.

Quick update on my medical goings on. Friday I went in and had a temporary Spinal cord stimulator installed. It sends an electrical charge to the nerves to cancel out the pain impulses. So far it seems to be working. I would say my back pain went fro a 9-10 down to a 5 or so. I can walk better and don't have to worry about turning the wrong way and causing more pain. The temp unit will come out on Thursday then they will try to get permission from workers comp to install a permanent unit which will have the battery/ control unit and all the wires under the skin. I'll be in the hospital for 2 to 3 days for that. I'll try to keep Y'all updated.

Currently somewhere around freezing and overcast. I had a final in accounting this morning. It was unnecessarily long, but I got it done in the allotted time.

Did my monthly Exodus to Great Falls for Uncle Sam. We had the unit Christmas party, which for me was spent assembling children's games and then running one of them. It was a snowy drive back, but we made it safely.

Slim, I had a dream about you last night.
I and a sizable group of other fellars were helping you do odd jobs around your farm.
My main job was cutting 15 1/2" of stout pipe with a pipe cutter. You made a point of reminding me of the necessary measurements a couple of times. I was having trouble getting it measured properly as the tape measure kept shifting. So somebody else took over and I was put to work digging out the foundation under your front stoop to be reworked and filled in again more solidly.

I must have done a good job, because a girl came up to me and gave me a nice, long hug. I recall feeling a bit embarrassed by the attention.

Dang!, I woke up after that.

River City John, you should have been embarrassed, I saw how lousy of a job you did. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I may be sick but I have a warped sense of humor.

Lady at my appointment yesterday on heart health told me despite what people tell you, sea salt is still salt and not better in excess that regular salt.  Itold her I never use it because i don't want fish pee in my food.   ;D  She about lost it and my daughter rolled her eyes.

Morning y'all.
Coffee and tea are ready.

Headed in a bit to the appointment at our regular Dr, the one I missed last Friday when Rita decided to A Fib.  She was talking to them earlier and now they want to see her at the same time about the swelling in her legs.   Cool, a his and her appointment did that one other time about 15 years ago, I was having a bad allergic reaction and just tagged along and got taken care of first. ::) ;D

Then youngest daughter grocery shopping with me was also, even got the dish soap, looked at the label and put it back saying it had too much sodium in it.  She rolls her eyes like her mom and her mom's mom. ;D ::)

I'll stir the coals for the night crew.

Today was my last in Billings.  We packed up and got out of Dodge at 5, with the car towing behind the truck. It's slow going, since the trailer is supposed to stay around 55mph, but we're making a vacation of it. Tonight we are in Butte. Tomorrow, we hope to make Yakima, but that's not set in stone.

Good luck with the medicos, Del.

Copy and paste from 2 FB threads, don't feel like typing it all out again.

I will, had a cup of coffee while I was up, probably looked heartless, when they got here I was in the dining room drinking coffee and Rita was stuck in the bathroom.  I'm on a 10 pound limit for 4 days and couldn't do much to help.  She had some trouble earlier and I got in trouble with her and my daughter because I was going to help.

I had to go downstairs to pee (took my cell phone) because with the full moon I was afraid someone might see me and call the cops.  That's all I need.

She's going to be Ok, is in ICU but because she needs closely monitored and gets a pic line for meds.  Low BP is one problem due to a med change as well as a bladder infection.

Her and the niece told me I have to stay home but Lexie is here and the niece is 2 miles away and off today.  My daughter will be in town and have other back ups.

Not a good day today. My Mothers car decided that it would be a good time for the radiator to self destruct right befor the s**wstorm from hell start, I had to rearrange the garage so I can work on it out of the weather. I couldn't see where the leak was coming from so I had to remove it and pressure test it, leak was at the seam between the end tank and the core. Of course they don't make them out of copper anymore so I couldn't fix it by re-soldering the seam ,I have to order a new unit,Rock Auto to the rescue, But it will be at least a week for it to get here.I'll be adding chauffeur to the list of job titles I presently hold .Y'all stay warm and dry.

some years ago I had a Jeep Wrangler with a plastic Rad, it was leaking at the top tank...

no practical way to seal it so replacement was in order.... I called Radiator Barn (national Wearhouse) and they sent me an all metal replacement in 24 hours.
perfect drop-in
I was impressed

Ok, Rita should be out of the hospital Thursday or Friday, but they are talking rehab hospital for a week or so, I expect the same fate.

Figure we'll have overlap at rehab also, wonder if I sneak out to her room if I'd get in trouble. 🤪  It's not like we'd be up to doing anything.🤣

Evening all.

Arrived in The Golden State last night around 5.  Spent today recovering and returning the uhaul dolly. For posterity sake, I would really not suggest those things for anything more than a trip across town. Absolute pain to drive, and no brakes.

Major, I second Radiator Barn. My dad has bought three from them (2 for a '97 Chevy 4.3 V6,and one for a '05 Subaru 2.5).  The two Chevy rads were metal, and the Subaru was plastic.

Now if you all will excuse me, I have a casserole to make.

Problem was the Dr over here decided to play Dr with my meds.

Oldest daughter came to my rescue  got me to the ER where the shit hit the fan.

She had my brother on call and was 15 minutes away if need be, you don't mess with her Dad.

John, you may have seen her on the news, she is that skinny girl, Amanda Gershon that helped on that Medicare expansion bill and was one the news a lot, even the National.

Merry Christmas all.

Got a little snow overnight. Either that or someone threw a bunch of shaved ice everywhere.  It was a good time here at the TK place, good food and family. Though my dog is not enjoying the fireworks.

Good to see Del up walking and in a festive mood.

Evening all. I'll stir some coals.

Today the ladies went down to the city for their annual "girls day out." My girlfriend went along with them, and I think had a good time. My dad and brother went with me and the dog to play in the woods. Popped some rimfire primers and threw sticks.

Just got back from a long and ancient tradition of manhood, I just made the after midnight plumbing check.🙄

In my situation this is done with the help of a sweet young thing who has been escorting old men on such trips for 1/4 year.  Of course the young lady has yet to totally figure out what kind of creature it is  in 335A.  Although the lady in 335B seems normal until it is found she also sleeps with the feet sticking out from under the covers like the 335B creature.

I rarely awaken before 0600 to check plumbing.  However unless I have socks n shoes on, my feet are always cold.
I have a quilt at the foot end of bed to help there.

Respiratory nurse stops by today - bi annual visit.

Title: Re: Last month for coffee this year
Post by: Major 2 on December 29, 2019, 04:27:23 PM
well yes or no ... it is a Constabulary carbine

The Philippine Constabulary were the native police established in 1902 by Tafts Philippine Commission which oversaw civil affairs of the Philippine Islands. They were law enforcement officers paid by the Civil Philippine Commission. Similar to the US Marshals in America, Philippine Constabulary officers were not limited to a jurisdiction. They had the capabilities to cross county lines(in this case, provinces and regions). The Philippine Constabulary were originally issued old US military stock Springfield Trapdoor single-shot 45 rifles from the Indian Wars. During the pacification of the islands after the Phil-Am War, the Trapdoor rifle proved to be inferior when fighting in the dense terrains of the Visayas and Mindanao regions where combatants would rush out in hoards. After the first initial shot, reloading another round became near impossible. As many PC inspectors complained: the Trapdoor rifle became a one shot club.

The Springfield Trapdoors were replaced by the Krag Carbines in early 1906. Unique to only the Philippines, the Krag full length rifles were modified and cut down to a shorter size at the POD(Philippine Ordnance Depot) in Intramurous. The original purchase price for each Krag, $6.00. The Krag Constabulary Carbine would also be short lived, they would later be replaced by Springfield M1903 rifles by 1910(but Krags would still be in service until 1917). Less than a handful of these Philippine Constabulary Krag Carbines exist today. Making them the mostly highly sought after and prized rifle of all Krag models by gun collectors and enthusiasts. These were made (about 4000) using the carbine barrel and configured rifle stocks as short rifles.

Note last photo is from the internet not mine ....I'm repairing the wrist on mine those photos will be forth coming
