Went and run errands yesterday, stopped at the grocery store and decided chopped steak sandwiches sounded good and bought a package with 2 and one with 3, about a pound total. Was going to freeze the single one and eat two.

Light load so I carried to the car, (they will but even as a cripple I feel weird having a young lady carry my groceries).  We got home and made it in one load. Set them down on my prep table and brown dog grabbed his pink puppy and got on the couch.  I went pee really quick.

Came out and was putting stuff away getting ready to prep supper and did not see the chopped steak.

The Brown Dog was now sitting by the door, so I decided to take him out and get my steaks which were surely still in the car. But searching the back seat and nothing, he also stayed in the front seat all the way home, besides, there would have been the tray and wrapping if he did.

Searched the apartment and found no steaks, also no garbage indicating they had been consumed while I was in the bathroom, wasn't in there long anyway.

Decided I had either dropped them on the street when I loaded or perhaps had changed my mind.  Could not find the receipt to check.

Made hamburgers because I'd bought two packages that were on sale.  This made me think maybe I had put the steaks back.

Later after supper about an hour I went back in the bathroom and when I came out both packages were by my desk, empty and someone was licking their lips.

No idea where he hid them, the place is not big and they were nowhere in sight, I looked hard because he is known to hide things.

Thanks for posting this. They were truly the Greatest Generation.
I was 1-1/2 years old when Pearl Harbor was bombed but I do remember wwhen the wars ended in 1945. People were dancing in streets.

My Uncle Earl was on the Oklahoma that day and survived. May God bless all that have served and that are serving to keep us free today.

Del, sorry I had to chuckle at your story.

U-boat attacks off Miami Beach in 1941 were part of a larger campaign by Nazi Germany to disrupt Allied shipping along the U.S. East Coast. In September of 1941 my dad volunteered his 32' motor launch "Lenape" and himself to the Coast Guard Reserve.
He was accepted and beginning in January 1942, shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor, he and one- or two-armed Coast guardsmen
plied the waters of Biscayne Bay Fowey Rocks Lighthouse and upper Key Largo from 11pm to dawn 4-5 night a week.
Dads' profession was a Theater projectionist. This he did from Noon to about 11PM. He served till Aug 1942 when the Coast Guard had sufficient craft & men to cover those waters.
Here is a 1941 photo of the Lenape at the Miami River 2nd Ave. bridge dock.  It the only photo of the Lenape I have, but I do have Dad's logs,
Binoculars, compass and his side arm he was required to provide and carry.
It is S&W M&P in 32/20.

As intended.  Heck was funnier than any so-called comedy I've seen in years, was cheap entertainment.

Good afternoon folks, enjoying quiet time here in central MO. 47 here today and bright sunny day out. Last night was an experience at the Outback Steakhouse here as it was a comedy. took 1 hour and 50 minutes to get through an endurance test. We were seated right away and got a brand new waitress, shoulda left then. Anyway between extremely looong wait for the food and two loud, obnoxious drunk women behind us the order was wrong!
Thankfully today was better with a visit to Panera's and had the soup in a bread bowl that made up for yesterday's train wreck.

Outback is on my Nope list just like the Illinois Road House.  ;D Never ate at Panera. All I ever hear is how great their bread is at all three. Was not impressed at the two I went to.

LOL if I want good bread I'll just stay home.  ;D

Morning all.

38, headed for 55. Somewhat oppressive fog. Last week, when I left for work I couldn't see the traffic signal half a block from my driveway. Rinse and repeat every morning.

Not much else to report. Keeping busy at work.

Good morning folks, sunny and 46F here in central Missouri. LadyC is getting ready to go shopping and I am gonna take it easy with a good book. Might go to Menard's Lumber today to see if they have an HO scale model railroad module that has a UFO grabbing the M&M guys! It will make a great HO TTrak module. Hope you all have a great day and Merry Christmas.

Wind is slowing a bit, need to sweep my leaf drift away from the front door, they like to sneak in.  ::)

We only had 40+ had ones up to 70+ west of here.

Had some non-urgent errands to run, decided to pass for now.  You go behind or come out from behind a hill, and somebody can change a lane.  :o  Will just stay home.

I always been fascinated by THEN and NOW photos.
I've viewed many WW 2 photo then and now and movie locations then and now...

Having mentioned that I found this photo that interested me greatly.

Miami River 2nd Ave. bridge and dock

THEN circa 1941 just before Dec. 7th  (with my Dads motor launch "Lenape)

and NOW 2023 same bridge nearly the same angle

Very interesting, especcially to see the expansion with all of those high rise buildings. Wonder what the rent is on one of those units?

Here are before and after pictures of the Sunshine Skyway Bridges that goes over Tampa Bay. In 1980, it was hit by ship and destroyed. Always a pleasure going on it when I go to St Petersburg.

I've been over the old Skyway back in early 1960.
I recall the ship striking it in the news. In all, six cars, a truck, and a Greyhound bus plummeted 150 ft into Tampa Bay, 35 people died.

I lived in Miami till 1987 but never went to St.Pete from that direction after that earlier trip.
