Tell me about your guncart
« on: September 01, 2004, 06:47:15 AM »
Just finished building my guncart this weekend.  Thought you might get a kick out of it.

Yeah, she's a little heavy.  I always seem to overbuild things.  Tilted back in "travelin' position" I can see over it ok.  Room for 5 guns inside the rack, but wouldn't you know the old 97 I just bought is a long barrel and won't fit in the rack!

Haven't done the decorating yet, but was thinking of a Farmers Almanac instead of Sears & Sawbuck.  Oh, and it still needs a vent.

3 legged folding camp seat fits nicely inside.

I built it myself. It is a modification of one that Rolan Kraps designed.

I made mine from a Toys-R-Us wagon. It works fine, but I'd like some bigger diameter wheels on it for rough ground.

No pics. My friend made mine from plywood, scraps and some pine. Wheels aren't big enough, but maybe over winter I'll change that. Gun rack is upright, holds six long guns of which two spots are for SxS's. It has a removeable ammo box large enough to hold ammo and other accessories. The upright is held to the lower section by two large bolts and nuts with washers inside and out. This knocks down low enough to fit under the Tonneau cover of my pickup so it can be kept out of the weather while traveling. It's also fairly light weight...........Buck 8) ::) ;D ;D
I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....

Built mine myself offin one of Rolan Kraps designs,........ I changed the boxes, made the main one bigger and changed the back one to a half sized leather cantle bag I made, I also added some D-Rings to tie off stuff like blankets, rain gear, other coats canteens, and whatever else will fit....... , then added a slot for another gun............

Built my own. Looks like an old hand cart with large iron wheels. Fortunately don't have to use it much anymore. NCOWS working cowboy, 1pistol 1 rifle.    jt

Up here in Grandmother's Land, gunz haffta be carried under lock and key. Since I travel to matches often and stay in motels, this ment haulin a gadzillion cases and boxes from the house to the truck, the truck to the motel room, back to the truck, unpacking at the match, and then doin the whole thang in reverse to go home.

So I built me guncart with a removable, locakable front, drawers fer all the different ammo, and a compartment up top fer stuff like ear plugs, glasses, 'n' such.

It's big but it does the job 'n' all in one box.

Well this is my new one, small enough to fit in either rig and big enough to share with a pard.

I built mine from plans that Rolan Kraps has on the web. It's a first cart and I built it to see what it would entail, and now I am planning some mods to make to it.

Right now, I have three carts.

Two I built and one I bought cheap and repaired.  I'll get pictures in a bit..

I built mine so it breaks down to fit in the back of my Subaru.  First one I built is getting a bit "ricketty" and needs to be replaced.  Next one will still be a break-down but will be built to enclose the long guns for bad weather matches.  Doesn't happen too often, but nice to keep the guns protected from the weather.

As I get fat and feeble, I appreciate a smoother ride.  A couple of our posse members designed and market these nationally. Holy Terror takes a better picture than I, by far.

Built it out of red oak, and added wooden wagon wheels from Hansen Wagon and Wheel. Took some time to construct but has held up fine.

Nice piece of furniture there, TB!

I've been thinking about designing (another ;)) cart, one with a removable rifle rack that can be put into a bracket mounted on a wall, so it can be used as both cart and display.  Still playing with the idea.
