Question about Revolver Carbine!
« on: February 05, 2010, 05:41:02 PM »
I have been reading Dusty Morningwood's post on his revolver Carbine project. He mentioned at the beginning of his post that his Carbine had an 18" barrel. Well that sparked my interest so I checked Uberti's website and seen sure enough, they listed the carbine as an 18" barrel as well. So I went and dug mine from the safe and measured mine again. My old Uberti revolver carbine has a 20" barrel. Measured from the barrel breech  at the cylinder to the muzzle tip end. Does Uberti measure theirs from the end of the frame to the muzzle tip or from the breech to the muzzle tip?? Mine measure's 18 7/16th from the end of the frame to the muzzle tip. My Carbine is old! Proof mark dates it as manufactured in 1971. Were the barrels 20's" back then or do I have an oddball????

My barrel is 18" from same point.  Why did they change the length?

Dusty,
I can't seem to find any info that the Carbines were any other length other than 18" Can't seem to figure out why mine is 20". It is a Uberti Barrel as their logo is stamped on the left side of the barrel.  ??? Don't know when why or even if they did!!!! I wander if Uberti could ( would ) tell me any info about this????
