New grips from N.C. Ordnance.....For the S&W Russian, but fit right on the Uberti! Pictures are as recieved, and colorized.

Very nice.  I wish a vender would make a faux ivory or faux pearl for the repo new model 3 (Taylor's Frontier).

I like the Cheyenne Logan's faux color look.

I followed the Major on my New Model No.3 and got the 'hard rubber' S&W grips......Major, did you replace the latch on yours?

latch ?   no Sir just the grips.

I don't Uberti produces the New Model No.3 anymore,
 got mine from Taylor's in 2013 > IIRC
I think Uberti was phasing them out even then.

Cheyenne, what did you use to age them?

Leather dye....saddle tan and yellow, small paint brush, apply, run back, if you're not happy, alcohol can lift some of the color..... different grips take it differently, have a set on a Navy, unknown maker, but they hardly take any color, wipes right off

I had a pair of S&W panels fitted to my Taylor's frontier.  But, they are reproductions. I would prefer a set of faux ivory or pearl as my model 3 is nickle plated. It still looks better than the wood panels it came with.

And yes, Uberti discontinued the new model 3. I just happened to call Taylor's about it and was told they still have several in stock, so I ordered one sent to y FFL.

Agreed the Uberti OEM grip are finished nicely but broom handles shaped.
The S&W Hard Rubber is shaped more ergonomically and looks far better.

I don't mind the Broom Handle feel on a Mauser C96, where it belongs
not a S&W # 3

Major, because all the Uberti/Beretta made ones I've seen had the Target model adjustable rear sight......

I sorta guessed that was your drift...

I know the Beretta Laramie version did, they also had a Transfer Bar and frame mount firing pin.
Uberti made them of the Corporate Beretta,

After the Laramie discontinued, Uberti made their NM version with a real Firing Pin, and the small #3 sight.
 I think Uberti was phasing out production even in 2013
as Taylor had only 2 in stock and one was spoken for.
I bought the other, those were the last 2 Taylor had in 2013.
Sue said then, "they did not expect of get any more for quite a while."
As, they were made in short lot runs once each year.
Now they there are discontinued.

Major, I was wondering, I'm heard of people using the latch out of the Russian to get away from the adjustable rear sight of the NM#3.....I don't know how close the latch would be to the original S&W latch....I've located one.....or, I may just try to cut the front sight to the profile used on the NM#3 target models ....I have the Russian, the Schofield, &the Frontier (NM#3).....I think the NM#3 is the best of the bunch....hope to add the American soon....... that'll round out the top breaks 


In retrospect, I believe the Schofield is the best of the bunch, all things considered........so, I'd rate them Schofield, NM#3, then the Russian......Russian wins for style, but in overall function the Schofield wins......if we're talking originals, rather than Uberti's, the Schofield runs away with it!:)

I agree I think the NM #3 is the best looking of the bunch, followed by the 2nd Model Russian.

You might try NC Ordnance for faux ivory's, or Gripmaker (Larry Little).
There is also a guy on eBay his name escapes me right now.
