Okay I am gonna be reloading a "renamed" 50-70 [the 12.7x44] with BP or BP subs [APP] and just ordered this Mould. Have any of you used it with actual BP and if so were the grooves adequate for the genuine BP?

My guess would be yes. I have a 300g bullet I use in my 45-70 buffalo classic with 3 gg that looks similar to that works fine with real bp.

If you are asking if the barrel rifling on the 50-70 will handle BP, it should. A friend had a 50-70 that worked great with BP. If you are asking about your new bullet you need to know three things. Twist rate, bullet length and muzzle velocity, I think. If you search the web you should find it.

I have the 450 gr mold and my 12.7X44 shoots to point of aim with an old time sporting sight that is on it at 150 yds.  65 gr 2f GOEX drop tubed and compressed Win Lg rifle primer and SPG lube.  I have used the Lee 450gr and 450 gr bullets purchased from Buffalo Arms.

The LEE 500-grainer fired through (what I'm assuming is a sporterized) Swedish Rolling Block will get the attention of both the shooter and the target...!

Note that the bore of a .50 cal. Swede is a tad tighter than the US Remington.
I would start out with pure lead bullets, and add pewter if leading occurs.
I would avoid linotype and hardcast bullets if they are not sized to the bore.

You might get better results with a lighter bullet.  The LEE 450 grain has been mentioned,  there has also been good results with the ca. 350 grain bullets for the Spencer carbine/rifle.

My recommendation would be to start with 55 grains of Swiss 1,5 Fg blackpowder, sesame seeds as a filler between powder and bullet, your bullet of choice lubed with SPG-lube.

Thank you gents! Going with the bullet listed as I finally found one for sale. I will use wheel weights for the food for the mould. And yes, definitely tap-testing all the weights.

Deacon:
Have you shot it yet?  How did the 500 gr mold work?

No, I have not, been getting stuff together to load for it. I did just pick up a cutoff tool so I can cut the brass down to size.

Keep us posted.  I have found my rifle likes the more pointed ogive, ie Lee 450gr vs the flat nose from Buffalo Arms
