Help on a '63 I.A.B. Sharps
« on: July 28, 2008, 07:07:18 AM »
hey!..I have a '63 I.A.B. sharps buisness rifle....it is marked  'REPLICA ARMS" on the top barrel flat.
Problem is that I see a definite  1/8 th inch ring on the chamber face.....some posts here says this rifle has a "FIXED"
SLEEVE WHICH WONT MOVE.....and some posts say that the sleeve is moveable and has to be cleaned or it will freeze up...
I would like to know which it actually is
the sleeve in my rifle WONT budge even after I had filled the barrel with oil for 2 days and then tried to bash it out with a pedersoli sleeve remover tool.......if it were froze I am sure it would have freed up after soaking in oil...

Does anyne know for sure if the sleeve is FIXED so it wont move
OR if it is supposed to move.....
I DO SEE A SLEEVE ring at the chamber face........
Help Please!!!

Hey Steve, the rifle you got from me is the 1863 Sporting Rifle not the Business Rifle.

WV,
Mine is a 74 and is a diff. I would get a can of PB Blaster at a auto center, and then go to buffalo Bros, or Track the Wolve, and there are more sites, they make a tool to help you free that up! Only reason i know is a I just called a pard and he told me to tell you this.
Hope this helps!

I have posted this question all over the web,,,,not many replies....I guess Sharps shooters a either very rare or very busy...
So far it looks more probablle that the gas sleeve in my Sharps is 'FIXED".
Wally...there ya go...
now people wont think you are a CROOK  ( as you say)
