why buy in pairs?

why is it everyone buys pistols in pairs? i can only afford to buy one, couldn't imagine having to buy two. how many guns do you shoot at one time for pete's sake?

LOL, ya got two hands, doncha? Actually, most of us do Cowboy Action Shooting and that requires a pair of pistols. Sure, you could reload one but that would be on the clock and a serious time penalty. I did it one match for kicks and, yep, it took a lot longer to get through a stage. Some pards pick pistols up separately, but most just buy a matched pair at the same time. Welcome to CAS City, pard. 8)

We shoot two pistols in CAS down here in Australia.But if  you only have one, somebody will lend you one so that you can shoot the match the way it should be shot.
