Hi All, is there some reason that this..."Advertising Guest" is allowed to post crap on almost every post it seems? Everything from pictures of college chicks to who knows what.

I'm on the air, still doing some detailing.

Grandson mentioned one time recently he wished he had a desk top.  Rita's downstairs is 5 years old and never really been used and is a better, newer one.  Carried stuff up a little at a time and he took his today.

Just got one monitor on now, need to take time and zip tie the wires I got running around, eventually will have it set up with 3 monitors.

When I was much younger and hunting with an outfitter on horseback, I packed a pre-64 M70 in a scabbard, butt rear, muzzle slightly down, under my right leg. The barrel was shortened to 21-3/8 inches, with a Weaver K-4 scope. The scabbard I made myself. I would dismount, reach over the horse and pull the rifle from the scabbard. Worked fine.

Thanks for the good news that everyone was safe from storms. We had some good ones here last night, but no damage at Casa Deacon. Went to load some 45 Colt last night, couldn't find my plastic boxes for the ammo, kept looking and when I found them, they were full of loaded ammo! So I have plenty for the Alabama Shoot this weekend. Supposed to rain more tonight. Y'all be good and have a blessed Lord's Day.

CAS City Classifieds / Old West Reproductions Slim Jim holster for SAA
« Last post by TDW on Yesterday at 03:18:18 PM »
This is one of  R M Bachman’s Slim Jim holsters for the 7 1/2 inch barrel SAA. These are top quality holsters, from one of the best makers. This calf skin lined holster would cost you $195 plus a wait for backlog time (and Rick always has a backlog!). This holster is very lightly used, and is priced at only $150 plus shipping and handling.

I will accept USPS money orders, cashiers checks, or (for CAS City forum members with more than 25 posts) , a personal check.

First, “I’ll take it”, followed immediately by a PM gets the holster.

Just spoke to Del.; Tornado passed 2 miles north of his location.
He, Rita and Riley are fine but his 'puter is down for an upgrade and has to restore Cas City passwords etc.
Rita came home, and they went out for a Steak & fix'n' yesterday evening .

A woman from north and west of here.  She seemed to be pretty happy about it!

Are you saying they hung it from the saddle horn without a scabbard, or they tied it to the saddle horn while in the scabbard so it wouldn't fall out?  Or both?

 Both

Since it has been brought up...

As a Cavalry Reenactor, for some 30 years, I did sling a Sharps Carbine with an original snap hook and carbine thimble.
I also slung a Henry in Sling over may back from time to time.
Neither was comfortable, particularly at the canter, or gallop... The Henry could and occasionally did pop you in the back of your head.
The Sharps was heavy, and yanked on your shoulder, and on dismount and slung over the shoulder could and did smack you. You learned quickly to dismount without arching your back.
On the other hand, I had a M 1904 scabbard for my O3 in WW1 impression.
When it was rigged as regulation, it was under your leg and O4 stirrup strap making close contact leg grip uncomfortable.
