Ithaca/SKB SxS
« on: December 26, 2019, 11:51:06 AM »
Just acquired a very nice Ithaca/SKB SxS.

28" Mod/FC, PG stock, single selective trigger, extractors only.

Perfect for CAS and Trap. Companion piece to my Ithaca "Flues' model from the 1900s.

No, I will NOT be taking a hacksaw to the barrels ....  ::)

;D  That's OK PJ.  I understand your hesitation.

In those instances, I have been known to attend a patient by appointment.  18 and an Eighth work for ya??  My evil twin, Hacksaw MacGurk is probably already salivating.

Actor Robert Stack was one of the early Skeet shooters.

He said that it bothered him about how many classic Ithaca, Parker and Fox shotguns they butchered by cutting down the barrels.

C'est dommage. Sacrilege!

I cut the barrels on a SKB 200E and an Ithica 100.....UGH!

If you wanted to shorten the barrels, you can purchase a set of replacement barrels, in the white, unchambered but choked on Ebay. I picked up a set for my SKB 200 for the time I want to return it to a true fowler. Paid $110

Are you saying that the 100 is ugly or the chop job?

I checked the link: "Does NOT ship to Canada".

The Model 100 arrived today - beautiful! A few handling marks on the wood, bores, metal perfect.

Hacking the barrels to "coach gun" would be a desecration.

The previous owner is going to send me a "barrel sleeve", a leather covered gadget that slips over the barrels to protect your hand from heat. It's an old English idea when shooting driven grouse with shotguns that have splinter for ends.

Should be useful for BP .... ;)

I am a BIG fan of Barrel Sleeves.  I have sleeves from GALCO on all of my antique European Hammer Doubles.  They have "Splinter" fore ends and do get some HOT shooting BP.  I may also have to make some for my TTNs and the Pedersoli.  Those fore ends are too wide for your average Sleeve.
