They arrived yesterday. Initial inspection looks good... first 100 has all of the anvils.

I may get to load a few later today.

Woops!  Somebody goofed.  Not very common but I have seen it a few times before, usually caught at Cimarron.  Mike Harvey once told me he was looking over some Henry barrels he had ordered from Uberti and they didn't seem very polished.  Then noticed the Cabelas roll marks.  :)

The bigger issue is how does it shoot?  Sure looks good.

I bought one of these in 44-40 from Dixie Gun Works a few years ago and fitted a .44 Special cylinder to it. Holy SMOKES that thing was accurate! I used it during a couple of deer seasons and make a couple of easy chip shots at just under 40 yds., but alas I just didn't like carrying the long barrel. The new owner is very pleased with it.

I mostly carry revolvers. Currently on my hip is the Taurus 66.
To and from verk I am currently carrying a Taurus 450 in .45 Colt. It is a K frame size 5 shot with 2" barrel.
My church gun is currently a snubnose S&W 15-3.

Got just enough sn*w to make the roads slick.

The spindle sander came yesterday. Hoping to use it tomorrow.

Spencer Shooting Society / Re: Shooting A Spencer Carbine In 45 Colt

Nice video. That's a sweet looking firearm! One year at the NCOWS Nationals, one of the shooters was using a Spencer. He fired the seven rounds and then loaded three on the clock. I've always had a Spencer on my wish list. You will have to make a scabbard for it.

Thanks for sharing this with us.

The Longbranch / How is Cimarron customer service?
« Last post by Gundogblue on February 23, 2024, 04:41:12 PM »
Hi all,
I posted in another area about my new Cimarron 1873 short rifle. The gun is beautiful. I bought the gun from my smith/ FFL. When the gun came in upon inspection it had a very small crack in the stock, where the wood meets the reciever!I initially was just going to blow it off as the crack was so small, but the smith told me as I shoot it, the crack will worsen and it should be sent back. My smith handled everything. Cimarron told my smith over the phone that they would just send me a new rifle, and they emailed my smith a paid return authorization. Cimarron received the gun on Feb 15, now it’s only been 6 working days since they received the gun. But I’ve read some pretty bad things about Cimarron’z customer service. I realize complaints travel faster than satisfied people. But I figure if anybody would know how good Cimarron customer service is it would be you guys who are really into Cimarron. Taylor’s, Uberti etc. I was thinking even though they told my smith over the phone that they would just send me a new rifle,  that could change and they may instead opt to repair the crack, which  is fine with me as long as it’s done  right and not noticeable! So I’d appreciate any experience’s  y’all have had with Cimarron  customer service, and how long should I wait before I contact Cimarron on a status of the rifle?
Thanks Much
Paul

The Leather Shop / Re: Gluing VegTan leather on polypropylene boxes

I'm going to enter a suggestion.

Consider 2" Velcro, I know self-stick Velcro adhesive will stick to the Pelican case.
I used to do it all the time on road cases. ( just use rubbing alcohol or acetone on the area and stick the Velcro down when dry)

Use your Contact cement on the leather & Velcro to join them....
It will hold like iron to the case, but also removeable.

Benefits = quick change leather tags, optional changes to said tags, options etc.

My roadie cases have traveled thousand miles nary a lift at any glued joint.

Just my 2 cents
