Title: Pistol caddy plans
Post by: dsaylor on February 19, 2016, 04:00:59 PM
Anyone have plans for a basic pistol case?  I'm looking to make me a nice leather zippered case but could use some direction.  I'm guessing one piece of leather with a 1-2 inch strip on the spine, a heavy duty brass zipper and maybe some foam rubber stuff sewn in the lining.  (I've heard bad things about mixing gun metal with sheep wool?!)
Thanks.

Have you ever just thought of looking at an existing one?

They're pretty obvious, in that they fold.

Foam will rot and deteriorate to powder and sheepskin 'never' dries.

Line it with wool or flannel.

Scouts Out!

Couple of Cavalry flap holsters attached back to back work really well.

Hi

You mention pistol "caddy" plan, which implies something completely different than a regular Midway or other commercial zip up, foam padded, zip up case with a Cordura outsides.  As long as it's not visible to the "authenticity police", why re-invent the wheel?

Where to you plan on the caddy being carried?  If its on the "handle bars" of the gun cart, I'd go with Coffinmaker's idea.  That would be VERY authentic, practical, and you COULD use a liner to keep the pistols from getting bumped.  Look up Pommel holsters in Packing Iron or Google.

My apologies to the "authenticity police" but I couldn't think of a nicer term that described what I meant.    ;D
