No, that's not right...  ....I just live in San Tan Valley Arizona, and the high temps the past 2 days have reached 116° and forecasting 119° tomorrow. Wyoming or Colorada are looking better for this ol' man.   :P

The color was achieved through a process instead of a bottle.

Start with Chestnut colored veg tan leather (Wicket & Craig)
After wet molding and the grain is just slightly damp, burnish with sheep's wool to a gloss.
Oil with a neutral oil (neatsfoot)
Use Fiebings Antique Stain gel finish (medium brown) liberally. Make sure you get the stain in the stamp impressions.
With a wet (wetter than damp) paper towel, wipe all the excess stain off of the piece until the towel doesn't remove any more stain.
(might take a couple paper towels)
I then use Resolene as a top finish but use whatever floats your boat at this point.

Make sure to give a little time between the applications of liquids.

The gel antique stain really highlights any stamping patterns you use. (it will also reveal any sloppy stamping....lol)

Hope this explains my process.

That really looks outstanding, Kid. Beautiful work. I like the nice even stamping pattern. The color compliments it nicely, too.

Agreed. The color is great.

OP, What color brown did you use on that one?

This was my aunt and cousin’s idea of babysitting me.  They worked the pony rides at a local amusement park in the summers.

Loved the smell of sweaty horse in the morning!!

Ahhh..  Livin' the life !     ;)

Works for me, not sure of anything on my busy social calendar.  I am lunching with the Rockerfellers the following weekend and tea with the Queen of Norway three days before, so all good.    Wooly Dan and I have already “cut” up a buffalo, we are cooking a buffalo tongue friday night at the GAF Mustard.  Oops, muster.  Mustard is for the tongue.

I am thinking happy hour and forums may not be a great combo.   ;D

I am thinking of changing the date of the buff shoot to oct. 9-10 . Would this be a game changer good or bad for anyone. It is now scheduled for Sept 25-6. Please chime in as your input will have an effect on the outcome.     jt

Them sure are purdy pistolas...!  :o

@Abilene:   "It almost looks like the second two were made by swapping parts between the first two."

- My thoughts exactly...!

I'd swap the cylinders and loading levers back, and have two silvery pistols to shoot,  8)
- and two "golden guns" to show off to the James Bond-fans...  :P
