That might be awhile, as I have no brass or dies. All in good time, I reckon.

It has arrived! So far looks really nice, except for the little scratch on the stock, which will get covered anyway. Time to start getting things together to make ammo. Of all my 45/70 brass i have, I only have 8 R-P shells not loaded, so I guess that's what I'll start with.

I've taken like 30 pictures and narrowed them down to the best 4. A warmer day to stack wood proper and I'll have all 3 out for group shots.

King,
That rifle looks nice.

As for as dies buy these:   https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1012058164?pid=189666   ::: If you can.

My RCBS set is a lot nicer than the Lee I bought in the beginning.

Looked on Amazon, also, but did not see a listing for the 45/60.

Nice acquisition. I considered bidding on this rifle as well but did not as I was pursuing a different rifle at the time. Glad you were able to get it. Be sure and let us know how she shoots.

Gonna have to get a mini chop saw too, as I just learned. My old hand crank trimmer is just not up to that kinda work.

I bought one of those chop saws to make 50 95 from 50 Alaskan. Really saved my bacon. ;)

King,
Here is a posting I made a year ago about a micro chop saw and a jig I bought off of ebay.

https://www.cascity.com/forumhall/index.php?topic=65071.msg769584#msg769584

Plus, ndnchf posted a video of his usage of the chop saw in the same posting.

PS:  I went back and checked the ebay link for the jig.  They are still being offered for, I think, the same price as I paid in 2021.

Awesome! Thanks, guys. I had already purchased the chop saw at HF, and just now ordered the jig. AND,,, I found a whole box and a half of empty 45/70 Starline and W-W brass that I thought was loaded. Got all next week off for the holiday so hopefully things will get delivered in time to get something done. Thanks again for the help.

So, RCBS dies came in today, but the jig is still in limbo, got tracking but not at PO yet. So, with a head cold and mid 40's out, the 76's came out for pic's. Sure am glad we don't need real film anymore, 50+ pic's narrowed down to 6. Phone pic sure are great!

Enjoy, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Mr. King that is a Very nice display of 1876 rifles!  Well Done!!  Hope the cold improves and the new jig shows up soon.  I know what you mean on the pics, the hardest part of sharing adventures is getting a decent pic to post.

P.B.

Got the jig saturday, works really nice. I did the 8 R-P brass @ 1.81, then re read the artical in the Lyman book only to realize they were cut that short to accommodate a certain bullet. So today I will cut some Starline to proper length. I did chamber the R-P brass, and the bolt closes no problem. Hoping the Starline follows suit. Crap weather out today and Packers don't play till tonight, so should get alot done today. (snickers)

That little jig works like a charm! Starline brass will chamber just fine, too!
