Buckhorn sights for 66 carbine
« on: July 05, 2019, 03:26:08 PM »
I was playing with the thought of putting a buck horn sight on my 66 carbine and I was wondering if any of you have done the same. While looking at Track of the wolves sights, I see that they vary in dimensions and what not. Before I buy anything. I was wondering if any of you guys have something similar set up.

Carbines tend to have the rear dovetail closer to the receiver than rifles, and so a standard semi-buckhorn with elevator will not fit unless you mount it backwards.  Keep that in mind when looking for a sight.  There are some that do not have the elevator, which will fit.  I think Track of the Wolf carries one.  Someone will post that one, I'm sure.

I was looking at the one on totf and they are the full buckhorn sights and that is what I'm looking for. But I just want to see if anyone put any of those ones on their rifle

I have definitely heard about folks using that sight in the past, but I have not.  I imagine a call to them would verify if there are any choices to be made.  Whenever I have installed an aftermarket sight in an Uberti dovetail, I've had to file a bit off the bottom of the sight for it to fit.

      Greetings!

Nativeshootist, I've been thinking of the same thing; I was leaning towards a fixed rear sight,
that I would file to proper height, and notch width for my eyes.
I ALSO like WKs TooW Adjustable sight; I saw that one on another post, and it actually looks
really nice.
Hmmm...

That would be a great sight for an 1866!
