It made it to 91 today and the first day since the 10th with no rain! Traded for an older Mauser today [it's in the Gunoholic thread] then church tonight with a really good message. Off the next couple days, that will feel good.

Well I picked up an older, classic Mauser in 30-06 from the old Golden State Arms. 24" barrel, Timney trigger and we think it's a California Claro Walnut stock. Stuffed a Leupold 2-7 on top of it.

Prices vary on the BAR depending on condition, grade, etc, but the rifle without the scope may be worth as much or more than a NIB 2nd Gen.  Also, the Signature Series guns are 3rd Gen, not 2nd Gen, and are generally worth less.  So be sure which one you're getting before deciding on a price.
Either way, I'd try to get some cash in that trade.

hi guys, my LGS has an 1851 Navy and 1860 Army NIB and i like the 1851 over the Army...thinking about trading my Browning BAR 30-06 B&L 3x9 scope Belgium Made for one...does this seem like an equal or offset trade, i dont  really know what the Browning is worth, i use my Mossberg 20 slug gun to hunt in CT, on State land..dont really use the rifle any more..thoughts?

You can occasionally still find used cap'n'ball revolvers for under $200, and used drop-in conversions for thereabouts.  It's possible to put together a functioning one with under $400, a lot of patience, and possibly a lot of fiddling once they're in your hands...which may or may not rule them out as "entry level."

Quote from: Coffinmaker on Today at 08:31:14 AM:) Hey RCJ ;)

I actually don't consider Percussion Guns with Conversions Cylinders a consideration as "Entry Level".  I had and itch just the other day, to build another pair of conversions.  Was gonna make a pair of .38s.  I know, I already have 38s but it "was" and itch.  So I went shopping just 'cause.

Holy Krapola!!  In this day and age, doing conversions ain't atall cheap!!  By the time I finished pricing out a pair of Donor Guns, Kirst Konverters, Kirst Ejectors and a front sight, I was up to around Seventeen Hundred Bucks for the guns I wanted to do.  WOWZERS  Nope.  Not "Entry Level" atall.

(sigh) My heady memories of a quarter century ago do not withstand today's sticker shock.

Thanks Coffinmaker, for bringing me back from Shan-gri-la. ;)  :D  ;D
