To be able to protect the true purpose of the Cas City website and our online community, a new and stricter policy took effect on Monday, December 5, 2005.

The forum rules have not been changed. Any violation of the rules, postings and discussions that cause aggrevation and unnecessary time spent in moderating the boards or dealing with personal differences off line will now be handled differently.

Unfortunately, we need to enforce the rules in a more firm manner than we have done in the past.

Actions that will be taken when in violation of forum rules are as follows:

1. Warning...
This is where a non public announcement (PM) is made to a member advising him or her to follow the forum rules and reestablish a conduct and communication that is representative for our community.
When a warning is considered, it will also be determined whether the member knew what he was doing was wrong or whether a warning is necessary to explain it do him. After this is considered, we may skip ahead to the next step on the action list.

2. Temporary muting ....
This is where the member will not be able to post on the forum or send PMs for a certain period of time. Call it a cooling off period and a time to read the rules, rethink their actions and get themselves back on track. The member may still log on and read posts. If this action has been taken, the member will see a notification on the forum when logged in.

4. Banning....
If it is obvious that the person will never respect the rules, a permanent ban is necessary.

A "city council" is under establishment and one of its roles is to be an advisor on how to enforce the policy in a level headed manner.

I like this new policy. I think that it is very fair and very reasonable.

There have been a number of Internet fora over the years where I wish that someone would have done just what you will.

A measured approach, I like it...just enforce it..so that individuals wil know that there are consequences for lack of civility.

Its sounds good to me. Although I think its a shame to have to make such rules. It always seems to take only a few bad apples to ruin the whole barrel. Have seen it on other sites I have been on. But its a good rule.

Marshal....have you been snooping around my forum, The Paranormal Compass, lately? I have the same set of rules there. I call it the "Three Strikes, You're Out" Rules. Over in my forum one incident gets a warning. The second incident gets a stronger warning. The third incident buys a ticket out the door. I have not yet given anyone three strikes, or even one.

We are a mixed bag of people over there. Christians, Catholics, Pagans, Wiccans, A couple of real Witches, Confederates, Yankees, A real Police Officer, Old Folks, Young Folks and a few other odd balls tossed in for interest. We have never had any infighting, squabbles, arguements, name calling, ragging, or any of that other stuff that can come up in a forum simply because we all respect each other for who and what we are.

We basically deal with the paranormal...ghosts, hauntings and things of that nature. We also get into discussions about UFO's and alien visitations to our home world.....Planet Earth.

I have the security gate up now because a person we all know was hijacking threads and quotations from my forum, taking them to another forum and making issues out of them and making rude comments about us behind our backs. I put a stop to that!

As for these rules you have.....Gee! Thanks for hijacking them from me!

I'M KIDDING ABOUT THAT!
