Viewing videos on this forum
« on: October 16, 2007, 08:52:04 PM »
Do any of you know if a special download, special setting, etc. is required to view videos here? Every video I try to watch gives me this message:

THE VIDEO YOU ARE TRYING TO WATCH IS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE. PLEASE CHECK BACK SOON.

I use Windows XP. I have no problems watching videos on other sites, so if any of you can edumecate me, I'd appreciate the helping hand. Thank ya kindly.

Hi,

Just checked the system, it's working fine at this end.

If you have flash installed and your speed is around 0.7 mb per second, you should be good to go.

The error message is for the most part caused by a temporary system error. Please try again.

I have the latest Adobe Flash and a T1 line, so I don't know what the problem is -- I'll just have to skip videos here.

I narrowed down the problem, but I'll be danged if I can figure it out. I can watch the videos if I go through AOL to the Internet, but if I use IE7 I get an error message. I looked at the Internet tools security settings and they seem okay -- something about this site that IE7 on my computer doesn't like.

Anyone more computer savvy than me is welcome to show me the errors of my ways... ;)

You might try asking this question in the forum  Cyber Cowboy to see if you get a better response.

In doing a few minutes of research it seems that IE7 is having various issues with Flash and other videos.  One site suggests that the upgrade to IE 7 breaks some Flash registry entires and that reinstalling Flash fixes it so...I would try reinstalling the latest version of the Flash player.

Thanks for trying to help, but I did install the latest version of Adobe Flash a couple of days ago -- Version 9,0,47,0. I have auto-updates for all of my programs, so I stay up to date.

I tried turning off my Norton Antivirus, thinking that might be interfering -- nada. I turned off my pop-up blocker and my spyware blocker -- nada. I'm usually pretty good at debugging a computer problem, but this one has me stumped, especially when only this site balks at playing videos.  :(

Try deleting the History on IE or simply deleting IE and reinstalling it.

That probably wouldn't help -- I have two laptops and two desktops in the house -- I get the same problem on all of them. It is probably a spyware/virus program problem that I can't debug since all computers are setup similarly. I'm folding my hand. Thanks anyway, pard.
