I didn't win the Ruger, it was a swap.

I think what Dave T said is about right. Like him I am no expert. Pictures of the cylinder, front sight, ejector shroud cam, and hammer sure would help.

Rather than worrying about bullets and dies, look for brass. It’s hard to come by. I just got some from Mid South Saturday and was darn glad to get it.  If you see some from a legitimate seller snap it up.

King, I'm not expert on USFAs. I just have several and like and appreciate them very much. I've generally been told the US made parts started taking over in the mid to late 23,000 range and by the 24,000s you could be sure you had a US sourced gun. If that is correct it makes your 22,000 numbered gun a likely Uberti parts gun. This isn't carved in concrete so maybe some one with more authorative information will  chime in shortly.

Thats the prize for your podium finish ?  dang  :D  wow...

Only gun I ever won was a door prize at the "Ladies Day" as RO volunteer.
It was Glock, one was for a Guest lady shooter another for a volunteer.
That was back in 2017 or 18. My name picket at random.  :)
Sadly, Covid quarantine in "20" put an end to the annual event, and as of 2024 it has no plan to reinstate it  :(

BTB,  I later traded the Glock, even-steven for my Springfield 1911.  ;D

USFA CSS / 38/40 serial number

I'm looking at a USFA in 38/40, with the serial number being 22406. US parts gun? Turnbull CCH finish, 7.5" barrel, looks like new. Approximate value? Thanks.

 :) Abilene  ;)

Ah So Deska (Japanese for "No S&%T GI).  If I might, I would suggest checking with VTI, or EMF or Cimarron for a new Main Spring.  Specifically, PIETTA has a new "lighter" Main Spring in their GW II guns.  Very smooth, doesn't stack, and is not overly "light."  The new Springs came in my new El Malo.  I really like 'em.

Little Dalton,

If you are recreating the original, why not search and wait for an original Winchester bullet mold off of Ebay.  Since you are willing to spend 100+ for an Accurate, just get the original one in decent shape.  Then after finding that or before, just buy a Winchester 1882 -- 32WCF plier reloading tool off of Ebay, too.

Then the BP you stated using and these two 'will' recreate the original cartridge, all the way.

Starline brass and the right amount of powder will work up a good cartridge.

Just a thought.
