Morning y'all.
Coffee is hot.

Had some rain in the afternoon. Got logs skidded out and the old elm off the fence 'fore it started.
Bullet, the new dog, had his first exposure to sheep, yesterday. Two of the BIL's ewes were at the MIL's place when I went to borrow the tractor.

Ham steaks for lunch.

'Tis 40 and overcast. "Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers. Highs in the middle 50s. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 40 percent."

Good afternoon, thank-ee; up late (early), woke up late, on second cuppa.

It got wet around here these past few days, more rain than we've had in a good while.  This morning it is mostly clear, just a few puffy white clouds wandering about, almost 70.  The guessers say we're going to have a couple of weeks of Spring like weather; 'twould be nice.

Later.

We had more rain last night. No flooding around here, like Houston.  I fixed some scrambled eggs and toast for breakfast and a pot of Cawffee. I still have some of the Cawffee left. I am fixing meat loaf, mashed potatoes, and English peas for Supper tonight, so the Moose won't have to cook. I plan on mowing the yards tomorrow if it is dry enough. The humidity gets bad if I wait too long to get started.

Good afternoon, or evening as the case may be.  Pot's empty here, but it was good while it lasted.

We have one of those days.  Clear, blue sky, nary a cloud to be seen, breeze from time to time, about 80.  This morning, I was out wandering, and saw that the mountains to the west and north of the valley have a decent coat of the white stuff on the high peaks, those above about 6,000 to 7,000 feet elevation, the highest of them over 10,000; real pretty to look at.

Got his little tale in an e-mail from a friend, and think it is worth sharing.

Later.

Got me a couple of cups of good coffee in me, better, now, thanks.

Woke up to a real loud clap[ of thunder this morning, it even shook the bed; it is raining, again.  We can use the moisture for the ground, but our lifestyle is not geared towards the wet weather; no gutters on the house, stuff stored outside that can tolerate an occasional light shower but not these drenchers we are getting, and no place to get the stuff indoors without a major move.

And there goes a woman running in the rain!   ??? ??? :o

Oh, well, guess I'll find something to do to keep myself from fretting too much.

Got Skyed yesterday by my adoptive father in Oregon.  He has some bets he wants me to place for him on the Derby.  They include 1 horse to win, 3 horses to place, 2 exata boxes and 2 super fectas.  Total bets are very small, but I don’t have any idea about what most of the bets ae, just feeling like a bookie!

So it’s off to the Grand Sierra Resort later.

Chicken on the grill, if the rain allows, for supper tonight.

Made grits & shrimp for supper....

"...shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey’s uh, shrimp-kababs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There’s pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that’s about it."  Bubba Blue

We've had some beautiful weather... last few days, high's in the mid 70's and breezy  :)

G'mornin, Pards, thanks fer the cuppajoe.

I read yesterday about Shawna passing away; my heart aches for Tom (40 Rod), I have considered him a friend for many years.

We have us another nice day here, but the weather prognosticators are saying - and I believe them, because I can prognosticate, too - it's going to get hot today, and hotter each day from here forward; maybe 100 by the weekend.

Since I am up early, for me, that is, I'm going to try to get something useful done today.

None of those were my pictures, ones floating around town.

Mine, first one the arrow points to where the nasty stuff was happening about 10 miles east of me.

The next is where a 'nader is about 15 miles south, the third rotation over my house when we got home, the funnel we could see from the grocery store with everyone else taking pictures did not come out good.

The last needs no explanation.   ::)  Local weather head on an Omaha station tried taking people to task a couple weeks ago for out taking pictures, local rumor says they're upset cause the public got better pictures than they did. ;D

PE

Work ethics or really the lack of same , it stems from work aversion , it is obvious from the " car broke "  "was sick " lame excuses
he didn't even have the balls to resign.

If you look at the 5 elements of Work ethics , Character , Reliability, Productivity, Cooperation , Dedication
you'll understand ...your chap  ::)  lacked at least 4 of the 5.
and probably all 5.

It is an all to common occurrence.  If he used those lame excuses to get laid off ,  let go,  he can collect unemployment...
not so if he just quit or resigned.

in other news , Good morning, coffee is on , and I made some cinnamon toasted buns  :)

So why do people who want to work never even get called other than being old?

Problem with trying to hire a sub carrier is-you work every Saturday(mostly) and on call the other 5 days. From what I've seen, the best candidates are:1. Retired people, 2. Empty nest housewives(or at least with older kids). When I started I was mostly farming, and my retired dad took up the slack on the farm when I  had to work. Every time some 20-something guy comes in I'm just saying(to myself) here we go again.

Good arfternoon or e'enin' as the case may be thanks fer the mud.

Had a real early morning, then a late one; had fasting labs due this morning at 0800, but my body rebelled at 0400 with a hypoglycemic episode, so I treated that, went back to bed and slept 'til 1030.  Got to the lab at 1200.  Now I can eat again.

It's windy, relatively warm - 87 on the way to 90 sumpthin', scattered clouds, mostly blue sky; the guessers say it is going to be cooler tomorrow and might rain.  We'll see about that, I reckon.

Gotta go get granddaughter Bella from school in a bit, then keep her busy until her mom gets here at 1800.

Later.

Doggone pool(POOH) is done. Did I mention that I don't like it? ::) :P Furniture is out as well, we still have to clean the deck and put out the safety items, though.

Was cool but sunny. I got the yard mowed tonight, it was still really wet though. Don't like to mow it wet, but really had no choice ::) :-\

Well that was exciting, went out to mow the yard, the 71 year old guy on the corner was laying along the curb semi-conscious, his 3 wheel bike up-set and bleeding.

As I was calling 911 two ladies stopped, one ran and got his wife and they helped stop the bleeding as he came to.
Anyway they got him headed to the ER, he should be OK, but scary.

Just talked to Jim up the street, he came out fine, they checked him over and sent him home.

I'm going to be a stubborn old man when I grow up also cause he says he knows what he did wrong and won't do it again, but he will ride his trike in a few days.

What ever version of WIFE he has down-loaded is not happy.    ;)

Glad to hear he is okay.  Having an afternoon cup.  Fresh pot.

Plotting and planning the trip next month to the Grand Muster.  It's a 16 hr drive.  Flying is possible, but expenxive...I was thinking I could let WIFE 2.0 process that since we are going to drive and save all the money, I can reward myself with a Henry!  But, I'm afraid WIFE 2.0 would crash with that input, and I'd have no functioning versions of the WIFE software.

I think it's funny how they have the standard, international sign for an airport there in Sargent, the one with the outline of a jet. Always thought an outline of a Stearman would be more appropriate.

Most folks today wouldn't understand that, PE.

Thanks for the cuppajoe, folkses.  Got an early start (0630) this morning for some unknown reason, wife says I am acting like a normal human bean for a change.  I wonder if I will let the day get away like usual.

This morning is a beautiful Spring morning; bright blue sky, clear (can't see any clouds from my window), calm, about 70 degrees.  However; the weather prognosticators are saying there will, with a capital will, be strong winds starting around noon, and continuing for a couple of days, with the remote possibility of some precipitation, as well; temps to be moderated by said wind.  That's all great in favor of the moderation, but with the wind blowing at 40 to 60 mph, we have to keep the house closed up tight to avoid dust and destruction, so, have to run the air conditioning around the clock.  We're going to have to do that soon enough, what with summer being just around the corner, but it would be nice to be able to take advantage of some nice Spring weather for a while.  Oh, well........

Daylight is a-burnin', gotta go see what else I can get into.

Later.

Good news, I have 20 pounds of roller ground rye flour (50/50 ratio with white)  with my name on it at Frank's in Wilbur to pick up June 3rd on the way to RCS, roller ground light rye flour is as scarce as can be, the Saline County Czechs came through, it may be the only place in the country that still produces it.

Reminds me of a favorite local joke:

Only 50's and rain today :P

have the keys to the kingdom this weekend. Got to be dog catcher, had a pit/boxer mix loose in the park. Calls up the kazoo about this big dog running loose in the park. finally got a sight on it and at least id'ed it as a male, choker collar, no tags. got within a foot and a half, but he wouldn't let me get his collar.Knew he wasn't a dog from the park, but took me a while to remember that he's been in here before and belonged to place over across Fohl road from us. Couldn't get hold of the other maintenance guy who knew where the house was. Finally remembered  how he got the info and went to that source. people weren't home. Got a call about 4 this afternoon that two girls had got hold of the dog and it was at the office. Finally took it over there ::)

Well as for neighborhood happenings I also have another strange one, Friday night there was a boom, then fire trucks. Turns out there was a gas explosion 3 blocks away, news said the lady lived there is in the burn ward, blew shingles off the roof and moved the house off the foundation.

OK, news said it was in the basement, and was caused by cat poop piling up on the gas line and the ammonia deteriorating the gas line. My guess it was the brass fitting, not the line because ammonia destroys the crystal structure of the brass/copper bond in the alloy of the same materials we call brass.

Good evening - as Alfred Hitchcock used to say it.  I'm sitting here with a cup of this mornings leftover mud.

Nuttin' goin' on in this neck of the woods, to speak of; just the weather, my aches and pains - which I avoid talking about too much - the "Kid", traffic, and so on.

Our weather is flaky; one day it will be nice, next, it'll be un-nice. It's windy today, and yesterday; today there is dust in the air - not dust storm dust, just haze, and it's kind of depressing for some odd reason.  But, it will change.  I think this year is going to be a strange one weather wise.

I think I'll go start thinking about what I will fix for supper.

Later.

Afternoon - 1620 - mud is the dregs, reheated three times, but it'll do I s'pose.

Last night I stopped by on my way to the hay and thought Slim might be the only one 'sides me left alive, but it wa too late to post anything of use, so I just shut down and went to nighty-night.

Weather; what can I say?  It has been windy, sometimes real windy, for the past three days, temps in the eighties, lots of cumulus and related types of clouds flying about, but no rain in the valley, for which I am thankful.  Guessers say it's going to come real close to  officially hitting 100 by next Friday but we shall see; unofficially, it got to 100 here at my place last week.

We have this long weekend coming up, then four more days of school, and Miss Bella will be at loose ends for a while.  :-\ :-\ :-\
I guess we'll muddle through.

Gonna go see what I can imagine up for supper.

Wife had to go to the basement at work yesterday, some dummy heard the words Tornado Warning and Lancaster County and was too dumb to know where in the county they were. ::)

Me, again it came to fast for me a look, was watching the local storm chasers and their live feed, knew the road they were on well, was 5 miles from one of my Cuzzin's house on HW 43, was already to push the screen save button if he was on the porch watching when they went by.  They decided the storm was not worth chasing anymore and stopped.   ::)

Been out of it for a while.  Had to go to the ER last week, so I missed the NRA Annual meeting.  Light headed, weak and generally feeling like sh*t.  No sleep for about a week and little to no food at the same time.  Low sodium and potassium.  Was on an IV for a couple days.  Back home now and feeling much better.  Even went out yesterday and trimmed the edge of the lawn and shaped up the hedge.

Couldn’t see the weather last week, but it rained like mad on Tuesday for about a half hour.  Since then it’s been sunny with a few cumulus floating by.  72 today with a gradual warming over the next 10 days.

Plan on taking it easy and keep recovering.

The wife retires at the end of the month.  Has to go back for one day after the holiday, then she’s loose.  It’s going to be strange having her around.  It’ll seem like we’ll be on an ongoing weekend.

Coffee maker quit.... died or something ,used the  same method as before, always good results , but now
I was getting weak brown water  ... :-\ and it would leave half the water in the reservoir  ???
I figured I got my $30 worth in the 2 or 3 years we used it...

Decided to spring for one of the grommet Keurig brewing systems ...no wasted 1/2 cup cold left in the pot , and "SHE" can have her favorite morning blend  and I can have my Colombian or Peruvian  ...it also does lattes .

Just finish a big cup.... yeah !

Watchin' the sun bake
All of the tourists scurrying about
take'n' it easy
while listening to some six-string
 On my back porch swing
and Smell'n' those shrimp ,
 they're beginnin' to boil

I have some Boston butt on the smoker,
  and soon it will render,
 something tasty and tender....

ahhh.... with apologies to Mr. Buffett

Enjoy your day...and if'n' you like kick back and watch the tourists idiots bake !

For those at home this weekend:  The water is boiling and the coffee's hot.

Bless all those who fought and died in service to us and their country, on this their day of remembrance.

Went to a couple of ceremonies today, with Patriot Guard Riders, stood  holding flags. Rode in some pretty heavy rain coming home from Springfield, but my new rain suit worked pretty well.

Delmonico, my wife is looking at some tornado pictures on her Fakebook news feed from Sidney, NE posted just a few minutes ago. Anywhere near you?

About 350 miles West, about 220 miles wsw of Jerry's.  Almost into Colorado

Checked it out, wasn't even a tornader, was a land spout, basically a tornado with a rating below EF-0:  less than 65 mph winds, was one up by Jerry's the other day,  We put up with worse straight line winds huddling in Jerry's cabin that night, heck I can sneeze harder than that. ;)

Dust devil ,  I was in one in west Texas ...a little buffeting , eerie quiet , will scatter trash hither & yond ...
Rare they cause any real damage.

I've seen them on occasion , here , we don't have a lot of open dust plains , so  constructing sites and parking lots will show them up some ... and sometimes on the beaches .

Thanks for the coffee.
In the 70's now, high 80's this evening.  It is a wonderful day.

"I see skies of blue,
And clouds of white.
The bright blessed day,
The dark sacred night.
And I think to myself,
What a wonderful world. "

Dust Devil is a differnt animal, they happen with a clear sky, land spout is really a tornado from a thunderstorm but not enough energy because it don't have enough hot air.

Had one cross near me 2 years ago on the way to the muster, it ran the stop sign and the highway intersection before I got there, scared me for a few seconds, was to worried about staying out of it's way and poof, was gone, no pictures.

Wow, Delmonico has ears.....Never saw them before. That's shorter than mine on top. Beard's longer, though. I don't do beards, not that I can't, tried it once, looked like Grizzly Adams. Too itchy for me, and felt like I needed to shampoo my face after every meal. That was back when my hair was near black, now if I had a beard, it's be all gray with a couple semi-dark patches.
