American holly grips for my 1860 OT
« on: January 12, 2020, 08:27:47 AM »
Been looking around and all the threads about holly grips are so old the links are dead so I thought that I?d ask you guys. Anybody got a line on a gripmaker offering american holly grips for a 1860 OT conversion?  Thx.

A Cimarron Richards-Mason 1860 conversion according to the more knowledgeable [than me] esteemed gentlemen on this very forum.

Ah well.  My alternative would have applied to a Pietta 1860 with a Kirst Konverter or an R & D.  My alternative wouldn't fit a Uberti.  Never Mind.

I?ve emailed Joe at classic single actions about his holly grips and am waiting for his reply. I also looked around on fleabay but didn?t see any holly blanks large enough.

Joe got back with me so I?ve put my name on his waiting list. 6-8 months. I?m only 68. Piece of cake.

Prof Marvel...

Hey Perfesser,

Around here, CLEVELAND, Ohio, I get holly from Woodcraft. Small chunks to planks.

Got a nice size piece of Holly 1/2"x 4"x 18" from these folk last year. Haven't done anything with it yet but I'll easily get 4 sets from it. Beautiful wood.     https://www.domexhardwoods.com/catalog/holly-lumber
A lot of what is taken for engineering fact, if you dig into it far enough, is often just someone's opinion.
