I may not always wear a pistol, but I always wear a knife... Unless I'm in a courthouse. They won't even let me carry my P38 can opener.

For what it is worth
AS a State of Tennessee Concealed Carry Handgun Instructor....what I see on the range is that most people carry small concealable semi autos in 9mm or .380.  Out of a class of 40 students I might get one or two (usually women) who carry revolvers.   What I do see is that in many instances the guns people carry are not fitted to them and as a result they have difficulty handling them

I've heard that revolvers are the favourite choice of a lot of CCW people due to their simplicity and reliability.

If we had CCW in our benighted country of Kanuskistan, I'd pack one of my M19 snubs or one of my .45 Commanders. Both utterly reliable and capable of doing the job of keeping me alive.

But since we don't, I have to dial 911 and wait for the rcmp to save me and my wife and we live 50 miles from town. Guess what I'd do if the SHTF .... ?

Can you have a crossbow? On the afternoon news today in NC a ?bright? fellow managed to fatally shoot an acquaintance with his crossbow. He supposedly is cooperating with the authorities. Maybe he didn?t know it was loaded?? Maybe the child proof lock was defective?

I would kill for a local Publix! The closest one is on the other side of Macon, more than an hour drive. And in Macon, carrying is recommended.
There is a Publix in Warner Robbins.

My Wife likes shiny stuff.  When we first moved back out here to the plains, we stopped in to a Jared Jewelry store just to kill time waiting on time to go eat.  Jared Corporate has bought up all the common jewelry chains i.e. Zales, Kay etc.  Anyway they had the Texas 30.06 & 30.07 signs posted.  30-06 says no concealed carry & 30.07 says no open carry.  So the clerk comes over and say,s "may I help etc."  I said, "we are just looking, but I don't normally do business with stores that have those signs up."   Anyway she said that was corporate policy, not necessarily the local stores.   I said, "I have been know to spend money in places like this, so you go tell corporate their signs just cost you a $ 5K sale."  I have not been back in the store but the signs are no longer there.

Well, the 1911 gets jacketed round nose, whatever is on sale. The SBH gets 44 special hollow point. Whatever is on sale. As long as they go BANG, and hit close, I'll buy it a second time.

I have a couple boxes of that too. Round nose seems to do better for me.

Critical Defense makes good sense.

But My Good Major, why FMJ in the 9 mm? Feeding issues?
I always had good luck with slivertips in everything I tried them.. 1911, Browning HP, PPK, etc.

In 9mm, I carry Speer 147 grain Gold Dot HP, mainly because that is what my employer provides. They did some fairly extensive study and testing, though, so I tend to trust their decision.

My 9mm Smith 539 carries Winchester Silver tips. Need to get a replacement for the Smith, as it is heavy enough to pull my pants into "Low Rider" mode.  (Looking at the Sig 365 very seriously).  Every so often I'll put a mag full through it to make sure it still goes where I what it to.  American Eagle or what ever I find that's reasonably priced gets used for training and practice.
