Notification on new topics
« on: February 28, 2004, 01:00:36 AM »
If you want to receive email notification on new topics on a particular board, there is now a feature for this in Forum Hall.

Example: If you want to get an email notification on new topics in the SASS Chamber, open the board's own index page (see above) and click on the notify button.

When you get an email about a new topic, click on the link in the email. If the topic interests you, you can also use the notify button in the thread as well to receive emails about new replies. To unsubscribe from these options, the same buttons can be used.

You can also check your status on all notifications on your own profile page, see Notification settings on your edit profile menu.

Enjoy your Forum Hall membership.

Marshal, that's a great feature.
Does it work like the other notification?  That is, does the system send out one reminder, until you check the forum.. or does it send a message each time there is activity in the forum?

Thanks again for all the hard work.

This notification only sends out a message when someone starts a new topic on the selected board, not on further activity on the thread.

When you receive the "new topic message", you can then check the topic. If it is of interest, you can then order a notification on this particular topic.

Yep, a great tool for moderators. Will Ketchum is using it now. This is one of the reasons, I decided on this software. Both moderators and citizens can be on alert through email. Great on the classifieds as well. There is more to come, but I will make sure the system is stable before I carry on with more mods. Got to work on the auction section this weekend and a few more updates on other sections. Then it is all street walkin' and peacekeepin' for awhile.  :D
