Vintage Camp Wear
« on: January 06, 2019, 09:30:09 AM »
Hi Y'all

I bought a couple of things from Historical Emporium, so I get a daily email.  I found his for Mr. Hefner:

Not sure I really need velvet, but ....

The red brocade looks pretty spiffy, doesn't it?!

Yep, the brocades look good, but $150 just to be funny is a bit much.  Maybe somebody could make me a red canvas or red wool smoking jacket.  At least that way it would be o.k. to be around a fire.  Polyester melts.

Just to add, the local fabric place has red, burgundy, hunter green, and black canvas.

Yep, wear polyester around a fire, wear it for life!  Exactly why the Navy wouldn't let officers and CPO's to wear Certified Navy Twill aboard ship........

Don't forget your fez... and carpet slippers.

Anybody remember "Major Hoople" comic strip?  I think the actual title was "Our Boarding House".

I used corduroy for this example.  Won something (second place I think) with it at one of the SASS conventions in Las Vegas.  This was long before Gentleman's Emporium offered smoking jackets.
