Does anyone have a link to a source for ultra-thin leather suitable for book covering?
Thanks.

Rcj, let me look at work. I think i have a link there. I will say that springfield leather sometimes has 1 or 2 oz kid leather which is pretty spot on.

Because I am weird, I have been slowly working on putting a book together, primarily it is going to be an illuminated gospel similar to the Lindisfarne Gospel. So, I have done a lot of research into this and have the printed texts and illuminations, just need to get the rest of the supplies. Here is what I have marked.

I would also recommend this Youtube channel. Guy out of Ontario that does hand bound books.

I called the Leather Guy in Minnesota. For what it's worth, they said Goat Skin is typically used and it's on sale today. Their phone number is 507-932-3795.
Their website is https://theleatherguy.org/
I've used them in the past for small quantities of leather. I would buy 12" x12" pieces of Veg Tanned 8-10 oz. which would make one Slim Jim Holster.

Please post a photo of the completed book when you're done with it, John. Same for you, Mo. This is fascinating.

I will definitely post a photo. It is number 6 in the queue of projects. But am hoping this winter to get caught up.
