SAAs OM with 7,5" barrels.

Well, for myself, I love the look, feel and balance of the 5.5. The 7.5 has always felt too long and front heavy. The only 4 3/4 gun I have is a Ruger OM with a SBH grip frame on it. Always felt too short for me, but it's a terrific shooter.

:D Absolutely nothing longer than 4 3/4. My absolute favorite though is 3 1/2 ;D

While I have a couple of 5 1/2" Colts and one Buntline, most are either 7 1/2" or 4 3/4". The longer barrel is my favorite, but...I am vertically challenged, so the shorter barrel is usually easier to carry. ;D

Love shooting the 7 1/2", but can't beat the 4 3/4 for handy.

The 4-3/4" balances better in my hand than the others, particularly when chambered for the 45 Colt. The reduction of metal in the cylinder and barrel because of the larger caliber makes a big difference, at least to me. I have two BP framed, pre-War USFS versions in the safe now.
I have to add, the beauty and history of the 7-1/2" (it was first after all) makes that a favorite barrel length as well. And the performance of the original loadings out of 7-1/2" single action is very impressive. My USFA Gunslinger (I hate that name) is just a delight every time I take it out of the safe.
I have been telling myself for years I should like the 5-1/2" barrel. It was the barrel length of the first SAA I bought when I came home from Vietnam in 1971. I've owned several of them and have USFA's so called "Artillery" now, but I just can't form a lasting connection with it.

I only have 7 1/2 inchers. One a .45 and the other a .44-40. I have an extreme desire for a 4 3/4" but I would take a 5 1/2" if the price was right.

Since I doubt I'll ever find one, let alone own one I will go for broke:
4 5/8 ( ok 4 3/4) OmniPotent in 45 Colt.

I have 3 1/2, 4 3/4, and 5 1/2. I am still looking for a 7 1/2 I can afford. I have looked at several 7 1/2" Rodeos on the auction websites but most close to my price range are Italian parts revolvers or .38 Special caliber. I would prefer either .45 or .44 caliber and of course a 100% USA revolver. I will just continue to look and hopefully one day get my grubby little mitts on one. :) And I like them all but 4 3/4" is probably my favorite.

Is this the kind of Omni you desire? I really like these pistols, although they are awkward to shoot. Just so cool looking, IMHO.

While I have to admit that I voted for the 4&3/4", I also must say that the most accurate USFA that I own is a 7&1/2" model. Not to say that the USFA 4&3/4 isn't accurate to POA (it is)... Just saying that for precision shooting I would place my trust in the 7&1/2". Still, I prefer the "gunfighter" style of the shorter barrel.

Unless Pietta decides to make one, or I can somehow weld and glue up a grip frame I doubt I'll ever have one.
I *think* I could recreate the gripframe by starting with an Italian Bisley gripframe, (if I can find one)and a lot of welding , grinding, and patience....
