1866 1st Model
« on: March 06, 2020, 05:16:32 PM »
I traded for one of those engraved humpbacked '66s today.  I am not a fan of the engraving, but I can get 14 Schofield  rounds in it. Yippee.
Where can I purchase a lifter set up for .45 Spl?

The back of the receiver is hump backed like the Henry and the rear sight looks like the one on the early Allen conversions of the Springfield.

Me too, but I never could spell.  I am totally illiterate when it comes to taking or posting photos.

I shot it yesterday.  I used schofield brass and put 50 rds of smokeless and 25 rds of BP thru it.  It works good.  If you put 13 in it the last round stays crooked on the lifter and does not work right.  With 12 it runs just right.  I was surprised at the lack of blow by.

 :D  Well Heck   :D

I haven't actually paid lots of attention to more recent goings on since I burned my Shingle and entered Retirement for the third time.  So I are some curious.

Whom manufactures this Hump Backed First Model 1866??  Are we describing the Anniversary edition 1866, made by Miroku for Winchester by chance??

Uberti made a run for Taylor's a few years back, it has engraving and has the hump.
