Quote from: Gundogblue on February 03, 2024, 12:30:24 PMI just picked up my new Cimarron 1873 Short rifle in .45 Colt yesterday I ordered it through my smith/ FFL. First off when we unboxed it at the smiths shop, he immediately noticed a very small hairline crack in the stock, where the straight grip meets the receiver on the left side. We're not sure it goes all the way through, but he's gonna call and see if he can't get a new stock shipped out to him. So we're gonna have to see where that leads. That being said, the fit&finish is flawless. It's a brand new gun, so it's stiff, but last night while watching Lonesome  Dove 😁 I kept working the action, and it's a lot smoother now. I ran some .45 Colt snap caps through her a bunch of times and the loading gate is getting smoother as well., and she cycled those snap caps really really good, and I can't believe how fast it cycles, so I think I'll make my COAL the same as the snap caps. She's  got a heavy trigger, I measured the pull weight and it's consistently 7 1/2 lbs! It's heavy but still a good trigger, there's no creep, and it breaks clean. I just slugged the barrel, the actual measurement is .4505, so figure .451, I'll size my cast boolits to .453, that should work pretty well.
I'll tell ya'lll it's one purdy un, that's for sure, I've wanted a 73 for a very long time, and aside from the stock issue that I have no doubt will get worked out, I'm pretty impressed with the rifle.

Congrats on the new 1873! Despite the stock issue, sounds like a solid rifle — glad to hear it's cycling smooth already. Hope you get that replacement stock sorted quickly!

Have several black powder pistols for sale. These were inherited. As far as I can tell none of these were ever fired. All come with original box and paperwork. All are still in the plastic. Some of the paperwork lists the purchase date, which I included in the descriptions. Please message me for detailed photos. Buy more than one and I'll take money off.

I'm not going to get too excited until they get back to me, which so far they haven't done.  We'll see.

Only if you have AC in your yard Jerry. Dress uniforms are hot enough indoors.

1 1'4" overnight, went to T-town yesterday, a few fields with tassels slightly showing, wet today and half the corn in the county is tasseled out and small ears growing.

Yes, it true, sometimes you can actually see and hear it grow after a good rain.

Quote from: Niederlander on Yesterday at 04:51:10 PMJust found them on Facebook, of all places!  Thomas Frost is the company.  They look to have a lot a canteen stuff.
Argh!!!  Not on Facebook, never will be.  If Mark wants to steal my data he'll have to actually creep onto my computer.  If they're not too much, you might want to order a few as next year's door prizes.

CM, the best use I've found for ROA's is to hold a Kirst cylinder in place !!!! 😆
They were a really good study of "torsion spring" placement and as in all things, a great place to start for improvements in other SA revolvers. It's possible we may get a "gated conversion" from Walt some day. I'd do that to all my ROA's in a heartbeat!!! Imagine,  a 3-screw "Super Blackhawk" that can double as a cap gun !?
