Joe check your hotel dates. Bryan and I made reservations in Seward last year for the 2025 shoot. BRR has moved the Ruckus from the previously regular first weekend in September to the second weekend; now September 12-14th. Once John Irons posted the shoot registration we had to do some scrambling to make hotel date changes.

In all the years I lived in Florida (all of them)
I had never seen a Coral Snake in the wild...
UNTIL last year.
Totally sure it was a Coral Snake, I know the difference to a Scarlet kingsnake.

Red & Yellow kill a fellow
a red head your dead
and yellow & red kill you dead ... Etc.

This guy had red and yellow touching bands, what was more HE WAS ON MY BACK PORCH!
about 2 1/2 feet long and I saw him at the step, before I stepped out.

Unlike other vipers Corals aren't aggressive, and this guy
beat a retreat out and away...haven't seen him again.

With Corals they have chew their toxin in, they have small mouths,
so, they need to latch on to a finger or toe.
Probably not really kill an adult but make you very sick and loose the finger or toe. Bets are off for a Child...

That was some Dad given advise I recall some 70 + years now.

Got the last of my stuff to the apt yesterday.

Gopher Grease and I are going to get a shed and set it up at the farm so most of the camp gear will go there. More craft stuff for the school, some will go to the garbage, and some will get set along the street with a free sign on them garage sale weekend. And some will stay here and a little will go to the Cook Museum.

His Majesty was not that thrilled because he can't get to all his nests now.  ;D I even brought him Culvers fried shrimp home, and he ate it, but I think he wanted LJS instead.   ::)

You didn't do nothing wrong. I assume the person in question had a dumbass attract and will not do it again.

Don't you ever change, you are fine, if you weren't the Brown Dog would not like you.

Political opinions are like butt holes, most of us have them but that don't mean most people want to see them.  ;D

Yup, I didn't think it was Copperhead, but it sure looked like one.

Probably a Red Cornsnake  harmless except they will make your hurt yourself.  :o

from the internet:
Copperheads are not native to Florida, but they occur only in the Panhandle of Florida.

We are in our seventh year in Florida and have yet to see a snake until today. I go to our indoor pool every other day and do water walking (in the water, not on the water). That said, today I saw a snake swimming in the lip on the edge of the pool. The little bugger was around 10" long and 3/16" in diameter. His head was larger than his body. Whenever the pool attendant would try to grab him, the little b*****d would lunge at him. From the color and markings, I'm pretty sure it was a Florida Water Snake, although it did resemble a Copperhead. Wish I'd have taken a picture.

Morning y'all.
Coffee and iced tea are ready.

Got the second/last load of hay for the year. Changed the oil in the TO-30.

'Tis 60 and hazy. "Mostly sunny in the morning then becoming partly cloudy. Areas of smoke. Highs in the lower 80s. Light and variable wind becoming west 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon."
