"The Hussar" - Center-fire 56-50 Upper Blocks?

Hello:

Perhaps the Title/Subject line will giggle a memory, please.

During more INTERNET digging about Belgian Spencers and 56-50 center-fire versions, I saw a post on an ammunition related forum that indicated a person using the stage name of "The Hussar" was selling c-f blocks to re-enactors in the 1980's - 1990's.

Can anyone add info about him or the blocks, please?  Thanks.

Center fire conversion blocks have been available for a long time.  I got one for my original Spencer back in the 90's and I beleive they have been available since the 60's.

Not positive but I beleive it was S & S Firearms in NY.  It had an "&" symbol on the block and I think that was what S&S used to distinguish there part.

From searching here and seeing several helpful posts and photo's, that S&S one with "&" stamp on top, front appears.  Seems S&S also had two versions. 

There seem to have been at least 15 different block versions I that have found, some as old as the 1880's into the 1920's and most fairly modern from 1980s onward. 

Again, THIS Forum is so helpful.  Got to dig, but very worthwhile.

CF blocks were available sporadically up until the S&S blocks came out in the mid 1980s. After that they have been more or less always available. I got my first Spencer in the late '70s, and had to make my own block and cases. Neither were available at the time although I understand that some were made around the centenial.
