Question about USFA Rodeo new purchases

Just purchased this pair



The label on box denotes the walnut grips - some epoxy inside the frame
grips dried up now I slipped in some paper to tighten them up

Bit of case color on the back of the hammer
But seeing it's an early one A serial number
Figure the QC was not all the good with Italian parts guns
Came with spare set of black grips would require fitting
Slight drag line is on the 45 colt cylinder
Now the interesting part is:
The grip frame, back straps as, cylinder, latch are all different part numbers like they hand selected the parts thin front sight blade

Is it worth spending some money on? 
The A prefix
Means it’s a Rodeo even though the finish is not flat black



The 38 WCF is very nice G serial number
Figured to shoot this one

Your "A" serial number is, I believe, an Italian parts Gun. The one that starts with "G" should be all USA sourced parts. Spend accordingly.

Your Rodeo should have 2 distinct numbers.  The serial number is on the bottom of the frame and also on the ratchet end of the cylinder.  If you take off the grips, you should see a production number etched on the backstrap, triggerguard and rear of the frame.  This same number is also stamped on the loading gate. This would insure that all fitted parts stay together (hopefully).  USFA would call this assembly a Y-1 which was a frame with loading gate, backstrap and triggerguard. This assembly would go into the parts cage and could be made into any one of the single actions they offered.  Your “A” series gun, being an early gun,  may not have all these numbers, but they should be on the “G” series.
