It was the South Alberta Light Horse uniform, he was another Afghanistan vet wearing his current medals.  The one in the kilt served three tours in Afghanistan.

Just got a disc from Led Li’Zard with more photos from the CAS and SASS 2011 Canadian Championships so thought I’d share some with you.  He is a professional photographer and has asked that no commercial reproduction be made of his work.  Down loads for private use are fine and encouraged.

Could that have been The South Alberta Light Horse (SALH)?  That was my son's last Canadian unit.  The double gold stripe on the breaches indicates "Light Horse"

What is your son's name? I spent from 1993-2002 in the SALH in the Hat after I retired from the reg force.

I'll PM his name.  He was on the SALH list as a Captain but serving in England until a couple of years ago.  He is now a Major commanding a company of the TA, Territorial Army.

FYI

The Alberta Frontier Shootist Society (AFS) is no longer shooting at Rocky Mountain House. Everything has been removed and has been either relocated at the new range or being put in temporary storage. We are now located at the Pebble Ridge Range on a rental basis, 24 km SW of Rocky on Hwy 752.  This is a new private range that was just approved by the CFO this past September (2012).  It has 3 stages completed with 3 more to be built next year.  it also has a long gun range. We have held two shoots at this range so far, one in Sept and one in Oct.

The Canadian Championship of Cowboy Action Shooting for 2013 will be held during August sponsored by AFS but, will be held held at the Spruce Grove Range just west of Edmonton.  The Canadians will be held at the Pebble Ridge Range beginning in 2014 when the three new stages are completed.

Our overall goal is to find and purchase a piece of land within central Alberta to build our own range.  We will be actively pursuing this goal and it certainly won't happen overnight, so to speak.

I see the AFS web site has been recently changed, but no announcements regarding the future of the organization.
