Well that's enough excitement for the day, didn't expect to get shot at, oh well I'm fine, have to call the niece after she gets off work at 10 and tell her we need to call her insurance because she needs a new drivers window in her Jeep Car.

Driving down the 4 lane to the airport, heard a bang and the drivers window went all crackly, plainly hit by a 22 and noise was too load for just a random breaking, didn't figure out which vehicle it was passing me in the other lane, I was driving a little under in the left lane and people not afraid of ice were passing me. Did not fully penetrate would have hit me in the nose.

Oh yeah, went to a safe area, made a full report, helped him search for a bullet, he had me take my hooded sweat shirt off and made sure I wasn't shot.

Anyway, gonna lean back with my coffee and say a prayer for you.
Supposed to be 64 here tomorrow, gonna be preaching in my church tomorrow night, as my Pastor is in Virginia for his Dad's funeral.

Yesterday .... "No gun funds available"

know that condition, all too well :(

Most shows around Florida are black guns, CCW, camo and kitsch, I don't bother.
The show I have attended in the past is the Melbourne 'winter' show, always a lot of snowbirds with a good collection.
This year its Feb 5th-6th, 2022...
But the above mentioned "light is sox drawer" syndrome, I expect will preclude attendance.

I'm working the Museum today; a chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution have booked a tour from 11A -to 1P

Morning all.

Currently 12, WC 0, but sunny. Supposed to get up toward 35.

Plans today are a trip to ChinaMart for groceries and some light bulbs, followed by equestrian feed distribution.

I am also very familiar with Empty Sock Drawer Syndrome. I would very much like to go shoot my new AR pistol, but I don’t have the green stuff to buy the ammo. Not do I have the components to reload for it.  I did cook up some 38spl loads this week though. Really light stuff for plinking.  I don’t have my load record book in front of me, but I think it was 4.5gr of W231 behind a 105gr Kieth bullet. More of a 38LC load really.

25F here, hit a pot hole this weekend not bad though, passed out Sat morning, just a minute or so, stopped Rita from calling 911 and took the kid to work (Her first driving after knee surgery).  She dropped me off at the ER about 1pm and picked me up about 11pm.  I was tested, prodded, blood draws, IV, X rays, EKG and all that, conclusion was a BP drop, did a med change and today all the numbers look good, pulse is a bit high yet, but better, that was the goal of the first med changes.  Feel good, no fainting when coughing, I think we are making progress as long as I don't scare Rita to death.  Woke up with dog licking me, trying to get me up by pulling on my arm and doing his Lassie imitation, "Timmy fell in the well again." ;D

Uberti El Patrons, they have Wolff springs in them and the triggers are perfect. Original plan was to keep one as a spare and swap the other for a 44-40, but now I may have to push the 44-40 plan back a bit.

Evening Y'all,Sunday at the gunshow was a bust, had freezing rain in the early am and the parking lot was a skating rink. If 100 people came through all day it was a lot. Primer prices were crazy,One dealer was asking $160.00/1000 for Federal Lg Rifle match primers.I'm still good for now, but will probably need some small pistol primers by the end of the year.Hoping they are more readily available by then.

Morning all.

Weather is a bit dreary today. 25 with freezing rain. Roads are bad, so the bosses pushed the whistle back to 10am when it’s supposed to start warming up a bit. The one boss’s daughter sent her new car (2010 Subaru) into the ditch right there in their driveway, and dad couldn’t even get his truck up to it to pull her out.

I have a new holster coming in the mail today for my 1911. Hopefully the UPS truck doesn’t meet a similar fate.

Evening all. I’ll stoke the night fires.

Weather was a mixed bag today. Some areas were covered in freezing fog all day, while others got up to 40 degrees.

New holster went well. I carried the midget 1911 all day with nary a hiccup. It functioned as intended.

I spent my work day down in the bitterroot valley today (working between Victor and Hamilton, if Roo is reading). Nice area, but nobody knows how to install a septic tank down there. I guess it keeps my paychecks flowing regular though.

Made it through my first-ever surgery yesterday.  Waited ‘til I turned 71 to get it over with.  Minor sinus operation, But it still managed to take up 7 hrs.  (2hrs prep, 1 hr. delay, 1 hr. actual surgery and two hrs. recovery).  Now I’ve got about a month wait for the dental implant anchors, then another month or so for the dentures.

THEN IT’S STEAK TIME!!!!!!!!!

The Trail Ride is a great time the weather BEEE UU TTT Ful, Temps in the 60's, not a cloud in the sky  :D

I have the Museum represented with a small sampling display; attendees are very receptive.
I'm having fond flashbacks memories back to the rides I use to do. Camping last night was wonderful.

I met and had great conversations with quite a few good folks. The photos are at the Friday midday, Burgers & such lunch break
There were about 100 riders Friday, the big day is Today with a bonfire & BBQ tonight, Live music and Line Dancing.

Shoveled about 4"-5" of snow off the drive. Fingers are stabbing needles as they warm up again.  (And yes, I was wearing gloves. Not the warmest pair I own, so learned a lesson.)
Sipping stout hot tea with honey now.

Today I'm gonna make a big pot of chicken and vegetable soup from scratch. May even bake some powder biscuits to go with. Now that the driveway is cleared it's an indoor leisure Winter Saturday.
Everyone take care.

Being banned from that activity does not hurt my feelings one bit, other things I do miss, oh and not only did John get the sidewalk done he cleaned off the car and salted the steps. ;D  $50 dollars a month no matter what including mowing, trimming and such, if he thinks he didn't do enough he finds stuff to do, if it snows a lot though I feel guilty and give him extra.   Nope, not a kid, just an old hippie with a good heart in more than one way. ;D

Steak Banquet tonight, Blue Grass & Country bands, Line dancing, the trail ride has been FUN...
Hadn't had this much fun in some time.
Rode this morning about 7 miles, and then set up the Museum display @ 3PM for the party.

Weather is to turn rough in the morning, with rain squalls & storms ahead of the cold front, I spoke to several who are pulling out tonight. I packed it in at 8PM and got home a bit ago....

Morning all.

It’s a balmy 25 degrees and sunny here. It’s supposed to be that way through the next week, with a couple brief excursions above freezing. Then it’s going to get cold they say. They don’t know how cold, but February is the coldest month here, so I’m expecting below zero.

On the docket today, I have refrigerator cleaning, carpet vacuuming, and dinner making. I got a corned beef roast last night that I’m going to cook up and make sandwiches with. Though I probably will make some potatoes with it. I don’t have any cabbage though.

Greetings all.  Boy-howdy has it been an interesting 48 hours.

Before I forget, Major 2, PM sent.

To start, Monday night I was rather violently accosted at the gas station. A guy was hiding behind my truck, and when I was preoccupied with unlocking the door to my truck, he grabbed me. I managed to get ungrabbed (I think I broke his finger in the process), and introduce him to the business end of one of John Browning’s creations. It was at that point that he decided his chances would be better elsewhere, and left the area at a high rate of speed. Local PD was called, I made my report, and life continues.

Then moving on to yesterday and my drive over to Great Falls for my monthly exodus. It snowed pretty hard for the whole drive, and at one point I was cruising along at about 25, when a snow plow passes me…about 50 feet off to the left. Turns out I had strayed from the road and was happily bouncing around through a poor farmer’s pasture. I aimed for the plow truck and followed him to town. I’m not sure how long I had been “off roading,” but it all worked out in the end.

Then, finally, today I spent 6 hours inside of an airplane fuel tank. That was quite a time, swimming around is carcinogenic/flammable fluid, crammed in like so many sardines. I get to do it all over again tomorrow.

Really cool day, this was donated ....
It is in reality a 1952 US Navy Radio Utility Trailer, at some point was acquired by the US Army, serial numbered & painted OD, you can still see Navy Gray under the checking OD paint.

It would display very with the M38 behind it, here in our Korean War exhibit.

Here is a restored 1952 US Navy Radio Utility Trailer, as it would appear as new.

Yesterday was gray & gloomy all day, temps never got to 55°
But today, it's clear and 39° should see 60°.

I did get out and shoot the new to me Zastava M57. I have no Tokarev ammo, but I do load
C96 Mauser and also have some PPU & Fiocchi 7.63 Mauser factory rounds.
These are not as hot as the Tokarev, thought cycle the M57 just fine.
At 2 lbs. there not much felt recoil at all, and the trigger is surprisingly good for surplus military gun.
This is in fact military, not one of the current made Zastava Arms M57A's.
it also has the 1911 style external safety, rather than the slide mounted of the M57A.

When it warms up a tad, I'll Chrono my rounds.

Interestingly the 7.62 Tokarev cartridge has a large following with Chinese gangsters, as the
Hot rounds penetrate more than 2 55 gal drums filled with water.... And the gangsters seem to think
It will penetrate chicom police body armor.

Based on my experimenting with hot loaded 32 mags I would say very likely on older type vests.

"Wolf Gold FMJ tops out at 1,720 feet per second (520 m/s) with 745 joules (549 ft⋅lbf) of energy, as does PPU ammunition.)  Source Wiki.

I know my 124 gr fngc at 1250 will beat a 44 mag 240 grain for penetration in clay, wood and car bodies including safety glass.

I can find no reputable source where the CDC ever said that masks do not work, in fact only the opposite -
that proper N95 masks, correctly fitted and properly worn and correctly handled do in fact work.

I don't think at this point there is any reliable source for information on Covid 19, politics has gotten to deeply involved to sort it out, I do what the Drs. I trust say and pretty much don't pay any attention to what I read anywhere on the net.   Their advice so far has kept me alive.

Good luck and prayers for your recovery....

I can find no reputable source where the CDC ever said that masks do not work, in fact only the opposite -
that proper N95 masks, correctly fitted and properly worn and correctly handled do in fact work.

I forgot to put that it's Cloth masks that the CDC said don't work. The N-95 masks are impossible to find around here, Stores only have the KN-95 which are chinese knock offs that don't meet the standard of the N-95.

Ah, sorry for the confusion.

The trick is to find masks that use the unwoven "spun fiber" filteration material.
Korean made KN95 or KN 94 are good.

The molded N95 construction masks are actually very very good and fit well.

Any spun filter mask is better than cloth.

That and fit them so there is no gap around the edges. Construction masks work better for me in that regard.

Then correctly disinfecting the mask after  each use with 70% alcohol or 3% peroxide

And washing hands for 30 seconds with warm water and soap.
And disinfecting surfaces.
And not playing with the masks or touching your face, nose, mouth , eyes while out.
We keep disinfectant in the car, and disinfect before removing the mask, then disinfect the mask.

One must follow the protocol all the time one is out, every time.

It's not easy, most of us don't have it drilled into us like an operating theater nurse.

That does still leave the eyes unprotected, which in theory is a possible viral vector, but in practice does not seem to matter unless someone spews in your face.

By following the protocol strictly, Mrs marvel and I have not only avoided getting covid, but have not gotten colds or flu or any bug for the last two years!
Hope this helps

Or is at least entertaining...

Oh, also beware of strange cheap alcohol sanitizer, some had benzene in it (recalled) some was  methanol ( toxic to the liver) and open car windows if using alcohol sanitizers in the car. I also avoid bleach.

Peroxide is cheaper, safer, and not toxic.
Alcohol and bleach will kill even C-Diff Bacteria in less than a second..
It takes peroxide up to 3 seconds to kill C-Diff.
But virii die much quicker.

This, by the way from Dr. Mrs Marvel

Saw someone saying masks do not affect you O2 levels, yeah, if you don't have pulmonary/cardio problems, my body and O2 meter plus my cardio Dr say different.   Having had all the shots, the antibodies, Covid and pneumonia I would rather make my own choices, will probably never quit wearing in the Dr office but sick people tend to congregate there.

Evening all.

I am coming to you from the far away land of Seattle, Washington.  I’m here for a polygraph test, courtesy of the Department of Homeland Security. Anyway, it’s quite a place. My hotel room is on the 12th floor, and I’m nowhere near the tallest thing around. I also got very lost Inside the airport.

Made our monthly trip to Costco today, almost unloaded, bring a little at a time due to stair, coffee drawer is full with maybe 12 pounds of different kinds repacked in 1/4 pound more or less vacuum sealed bags.  Got 3 cases of citrus flavored mineral waters, don't drink pop any more and get tired of iced tea so I drink these ice cold and like them.  Got some mixed honey roasted nut and a big bag of dates, 3 drawers of my desk are full of dried fruit and nut snacks.   Double drawer is coffee and the last one meds.  Need to find the big one in the middle, got lost when the kids did stuff 2 years ago.

Case of mushroom soup, 2 cases of tuna, 2 of canned mushroom, big 2 pack of P Butter, 3 pack of ketchup, big 2 pack of ranch and assorted wife snacks her problem where to store, 5 pound bag of lemons for tea, when they get tired looking into the drier.   Not sure what else besides 10 pounds of cheese. ;D   I dare it to snow us in. ;D  Oh, 48 pack of crapping paper on rolls. ;D  I think we retired and became hoarders. ;)
